I received such verbal abuse from the owner of this establishment, after complaining for the first time after being a LOYAL customer for years.
Fortunately Iāve never dealt with the owner prior to this experience, otherwise I probably wouldnāt have been a loyal customer.
We only wanted a small takeaway order, salt & pepper chips.
The chips were given and as I walked back to the car I tasted them - the ones I tried were hard inside. I immediately returned and asked for them to be replaced, I apologised whilst asking!!
The chef was clearly disgruntled by this and made two new portions.
I left with the fresh chips, however I noticed the normal ingredients, onions and garlic were missing. I didnāt have time to ask for the chips to be made correctly again after waiting 40 minutes, so i phoned on my way home. The lady asked what should she do and I said suggested as a goodwill gesture the chips should be covered in my next order as these are still not what I paid for. I was told the owner would call me later to discuss - if needed.
I received a call from the owner awhile later. The owner first told me that there was nothing wrong with the chips and all his staff members ate them the leftover returned portions. I asked what benefit would I have to bring uneaten chips back and why he would assume Iād lie for fun? I didnāt ask for anything other than a replacement at this point. I told him I travel far to come to this restaurant and have been coming for years. He said that none of that was relevant. The owner continued to imply I was a liar, shouting that heās worked for 40 years and heās now wasted four bags of chips. I told him this conversation is for his chef that wasted the first two bags, however I STILL paid for the two bags of chips I collected so Iām the one thatās out of pocket, not him. He continued to shout at me and not listen to what I had to say.
The owner thought it was appropriate to act this way towards me, after I have been a loyal customer for so many years, with staff members knowing my name and it is incredibly disappointing.
I am truly shocked at his over reaction for two portions of chips. I wonāt be returning. I donāt need abuse when Iām paying such...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUnless you want to be humiliated, I suggest NOT going here. Despite the eery atmosphere as soon as you walk-in, the restaurant is poorly maintained & very drab looking. Having received news about my mums cancer diagnosis, who is a single parent, we wanted to eat out & cheer ourselves up. The crippled paper menu held together by some string, was hard to read with fainted text. The prices were similar to Central London, so quite over priced for such a depressing restaurant. Ā£14 a dish to say the least. Having ordered our food (5 dishes), it all miraculously arrived in 3 minutes. Little cooking required obviously as it tasted pre-cooked. The rice was dry. And the curries were not flavoursome. Just tasted of salt. The chicken was extremely dry. Having opted to not pay the Service Charge as itās OPTIONAL. The Manager then came over & laughed āOf course, you can choose not to pay the SC, but just know that next time, youāre NOT welcome hereā. Now had he said this discretely, I would have respected him. Instead, he shouted this out in front of the entire restaurant. And then he just kept repeating himself. Just to make us feel as small as an ANT. Not sure what the managerās/owners problem is but he seemed to go above & beyond to HUMILIATE us. The whole evening, my mum & me were so upset with the treatment we received. The SC is OPTIONAL. NOT COMPULSORY. There was nothing to pay extra for. There was NO āserviceā even provided. A miserable looking Restaurant with rubbish cooked food. šš¼

I recently visited Peking Garden in Northwood on a weekday with a group of four. We had made our reservation via email, but had to follow up with a phone call to confirm ā which already set the tone for a slightly disorganised experience.
The food itself was decent, with a good range of vegetarian options, which I appreciated. However, the overall experience continues to slide downhill. I've visited this restaurant a few times over the years, and unfortunately, each time the service seems to deteriorate further. Despite being located in an affluent area, the attention to detail and hospitality don't reflect that prestige. Menus were worn out and tatty ā not what you'd expect at the prices they're charging.
Speaking of prices, the mark-up was steep to the point of feeling insulting. For example, a large bottle of Chinese sake wine sold at the off-licence just a few doors down costs Ā£12, yet in the restaurant, they poured what felt like a shot into a small teacup and charged the same. Thatās not just expensive ā thatās extortionate.
All in all, while the location remains attractive and the food passable, the poor service and inflated prices make it hard to justify returning any time soon.
I am a food critic and photographer and normally do take foodshoots but...
