Been a couple of times before and was really impressed with the previous visits the main draw for me is that there is a self serve soft drinks dispenser that you can use as much as you want which is one of the reasons I specifically chose to come here for my first post-covid lockdown birthday meal.
Upon entering we were greeted by staff and told that once seated at your table you are not to leave your table unless going to the toilet or to leave the building so me going to the soft drinks dispenser to refill my own drink was not allowed.
Looking at the menu the sharing platter that I planned to order was not avaliable, I would guess this was due to the starter Garlic and Herb Breaded Mushrooms not being avaliable as it's a part of the sharing platter, since neither my first nor second choice of starter was avaliable I decided on the Garlic Flatbread with Cheese and while it was nice there was a hair on it.
My main the 4oz Beef, Cheese and Mushroom Burger which is one of the nicest burgers i've ever had from a restaurant, my dessert the Baked Cookie Smores and while nice not sure I would have it again.
I was disappointed this time around with not being able to refill my own drink which im hoping won't be an issue on the next visit when the covid restrictions are fully lifted and also with my choice of starter not being avaliable, despite the issues this is still my preferred...
Read moreA nice, simple traditional family restaurant which serves your typical Beefeater/Bernie Inn sort of fare, and prices are very reasonable. We went for the 2 mains for 8.99 which is crazy cheap - the cheese burger and fries for me, and the ham egg and chips for the old man. We also had a refillable drink each, as well as a âcaramel apple Bettyâ with ice cream for dessert - which were only 2.49 a piece as a bolt-on to the mains deal. The whole lot came to 20 quid! So thatâs 2 mains, 2 desserts and 2 infinitely refillable fizzy drinks for a tenner a person. Really good value for money.
The food itself was ok. Not bad, not amazing. Just decent. Donât expect anything incredible. The burger was super basic, one step below a Wetherspoons. The fries were nice, though.
One thing Iâd say is service is nice but not attentive, as our desserts were forgotten and I had to go up and remind them and was given a curt âSo youâre ready then?â , as if I was always their plan for us to wait 30 mins after finishing my meal and expected go find a waitress the other side of the building to tell them we were ready for a dessert. Also the tables and menus need a good clean, everything is a bit sticky!
Overall though this is fantastic value for what you get, and will...
Read moreWas invited to a family lunch, which took place at the Brookers. Sadly, I have very little good things to say about the whole experience. My Hubby and I are Vegan, and upon arriving we were greeted with a 'that's not a problem, not like it's allergy food anyway', which already made me question how much they actually give a damn (not much turns out). I ordered a Salad, which then subsequently came with real chicken on top of it. Upon returning it, it then took them about 15 minutes to remake it, which meant that I was sitting there, watching every one else eat (fun!). What I assume, was the cook came to bring me a now chickenless Salad, no apology, just an attitude. After all that waiting (and a price tag of 8 pounds), I would have at least expected the Salad to be more than, you know, some sad leaves and tinned sweet corn - alas that's exactly what I got. Drowning it with some off the shelf Dressing did not help much.
Maybe, your Service Staff might want to refresh their knowledge of foods that are not drowned in fat - if you choose to charge for it, that is.
Here's some great Salad ideas that I'd actually be happy to pay 8 quid for,...
