While visiting family we were taken to The Chaser Inn for lunch. A really lovely place and it seems more like a TARDIS than anywhere I've seen. It is spacious and dog friendly, which makes sense given the location! The food was unreal, we all had something different: Fish and chips - large fish, batter was crispy but not oily. The chips were chunky and fluffy. Burger - meaty, chunky and juicy. Lots of flavour! Chaser plater - Massive slice of ham, good array of cheese and the pickled onion was divine. The service was brilliant. It's nice to see so many servers with genuine smiles on their faces, chatting to locals and visitors alike. We didn't wait long for drinks/food, and felt we had plenty of time to enjoy eating and catching up without constantly being asked if anything else was needed. Toilets were some of the cleanist and well maintained within such a setting I've seen. I'm not sure how wheelchair friendly the whole place is, as we're we sat there was a large step, but from memory the front area would be fine.

Thanks for the recommendation from The George and Dragon in Ightham I headed over to The Chaser Inn the next morning. With no expectations I was blown away by the extent of the building, grounds and views. The Chaser is huge; it’s so big in fact it doesn’t have separate rooms it has separate areas. There is the Bar, the lounge, the library, the church, the veranda... I had a look round and settled on enjoying my meal in the high beamed historic church area. There is so much detailed on the walls, The Chaser Inn is a half way to being a museum. The food, it is sensational, arguably on par with its neighbour The George and Dragon. I loved the unusually tasty broccoli, egg muffin and vegan fish and chips. The latter, given a blind taste test could well pass as fish. The alternative used was banana! Service was caring and accommodating. Price was excellent, given my choice of veggie dishes. And yes, I took over 70 photos such was the photogenic appeal of The “picturesque” Chaser Inn.

I used to use the chaser regularly , but they have now taken the bizarre decision to close their carpark to allow just staff parking leaving their customers to park across the main road on a side road a few hundred meters away in very busy popular dog walking spot. I literally managed to get the last safe place to park today. Clearly dining out on their reputation for good food, but I suspect a bad long term decision for customer satisfaction. Customers should always come first where possible and for years customers have been allowed to use the car park. It certainly will inform my choice of where to meet people for lunch in future, and it won't be here sadly.

This used to be one of our top restaurants, but unfortunately, their food was disappointing yesterday. The restaurant atmosphere was good, and the garlic bread starter was delicious. Considering how busy they were, the service was good. Reading the menu paints a picture of exceptional food to follow. The description almost made me order the burger instead of my usual Sunday roast. My oldest ordered the burger plain with just the meat and the bun but could not eat it. The homemade beef burger could have been more tasty. Believing him to be overly picky, both me and my wife had a bite but could not eat more than one mouthful. My beef roast was described on the menu as "always pink unless asked for otherwise.". Unfortunately, what I received were two small flat bits of rather chewy, not pink at all, beef. The roast potatoes were rather bleak and not roasted in any shape or form but rather baked until brown in some places. The gravy was nice and managed to help the situation. My wife had roast chicken, which she could not eat. It was very plain chicken. She loves cauliflower cheese, but this was also unpleasant. The table next to us had a very tasty-looking casserole, which might have been a...

Be warned the carpark has now been cut off only for staff use! No consideration for paying customers. I’ve never visited a pub which has closed off a carpark for staff use with no alternative before. There is no nearby parking. We parked down a road across the way, parking on the verge. Unfortunately this ruins the beautiful local countryside views and creates a muddy verge. We ordered a coffee and needed to wait so sat at a table near the bar. A middle aged lady loudly exclaimed how she “couldn’t understand why anyone would sit inside on a day like today” to her middle aged mate as they walked past us…..nice 🥴 The staff seemed nice but unfortunately there was a herb (or something green) in my coffee and I didn’t feel like drinking it once I’d fished it out. The other drinks were fine. The tables were clean and tidy. We sat listening to a group of men being a little vulgar. My husband asked the group to tone it down, which they did. The men knew the staff by name and seemed like locals to the pub. It wasn’t the atmosphere for us. It did seem like going back in time to when sexism was normal. There is a decent seating area outside but I’d had my fill of listening to local...

Such a shame the setting was nice lovely candle lit church room nice waitress service but the food was terrible and overpriced. The lamb chops £19 were so under cooked they were raw they hadn't seared them so there was still white fat showing , the potatoes they had no flavour, it looked like they were trying to make it look to clever and poncy but failed so sent them back and changed for the mince beef and onion pie £13 now that is really a joke it was like school dinner it came with French fries not a sign of veg and a thin gravy and again no flavour. Peppered salmon £20 was 3 tiny pieces of salmon 3 mussels a parsnip and a cauliflower sauce that's it and that tasted ok..The burger was dry it came with just chips not a hint of garnish or salad it was disgraceful. It says lots when everyone e is not happy with there food Even the puddings were very average the panacota had to much gelatine in it and the banofee pie was ok at best. Overall very annoying and wont be going back will stick to its sister pub the mark cross 100% better. They seriously need to look at there menu and prices because we felt so dissapointed and ripped off. Oh and...
