Hmm. I’m torn here with my review because it’s mainly based on the curry house in the back garden! Yes it’s in the back garden! The pub itself is lovely with decent beer and friendly atmosphere once you’ve settled in after a few minutes. When you first enter it’s like you’ve just walked into a classic western saloon when everyone stops what they’re doing and looks at the stranger as you walk in the door, tumble weed rolling and the classic Clint Eastwood incidental music as you proceed to enter! All in good spirits of course as they realise you are a guest of a regular. The local clientele soon begin to relax and soon start chatting again and return to looking at the large tv or return to staring incessantly at their drinks! Yes it’s a local pub with locals that know everything about each other, I wouldn’t say village of the damned but it has a hint of the children of the corn about the place. Once you settle in then you too will be welcomed by these friendly lovely and colourful village folk. Then there’s the somewhat bizarre curry house out the back! Has to be seen to be believed. Once you get into this posh curry shed you will be welcomed by nice friendly staff, it’s a pleasant space to be in as well, it’s small but nice. However, the food was so subpar and bland I’d recommend you went elsewhere. Nice pub, nice curry house if your not a curry connoisseur and nice pub garden. But like I say it’s a bit of a wicker man vibe in here and not as inviting as it could be to non locals. Mind you having said all that they did make me feel at home after a while....
Read moreVery nice bar and staff. However when we had breakfast the next day it was a shambles. The place was dirty from the night before when we arrived. The food ordering was slow one table at a time and when it did come out the orders were all wrong so had to go back. When ours arrived the eggs and beans were cold and my friend had a long black hair going right the way through her breakfast...gross. This was sent back and to be honest put us off our breakfast too. The teapot and cups were dirty. Then they wanted to charge us £10 for a glass or like warm apple juice normal breakfast was £7.95 but to add a juice would be £10!!!! The fried eggs don't look like they saw the pan they look raw. You could hear everything they were saying in the kitchen ie moaning about us and we even heard one girl say oh that must be my hair!!! Not nice. I felt sorry for the nice lady serving as she looked very embarrassed about the whole ordeal and how we were being treated. Maybe the chef is not used to doing breakfast but really...
Read moreWe booked a table for 1pm today as it was our first time visiting the inn. We were a party of 5 adults with our dogs. Bar meal service was between 12 and 3pm. We ordered our food by 1.30pm. Sadly over 75 minutes later a lady told us that she was sorry our food still hadnt arrived and would we like a drink whilst we were waiting. 15 minutes later our food arrived. Sadly it was not too warm ,and was nothing special. We spent a fair amount of money purchasing dog treats at the bar as they were becoming restless whilst we were waiting. 3 members of our party ordered desserts and were initially advised that the kitchen closed at 3pm. Then they realised how late they had actually delivered our meals so did provide the desserts with a 10%discount. Overall we felt the lady serving was overwhelmed and should have known that being a bank holiday they may have been busy with walkins. We ,though had booked as a party of 7 which made our experiance more unsatisfactory. I dont think...
