Arrived famished approx 4.30pm after l long walk, menu looked good with plenty of choice for a non meat eater, pub was very quite, staff were nowhere to be found! After 5 mins someone appeared took our orders, staff interaction was pleasant but minimal, both male & female toilets weren’t clean. Floor by bar was sticky, decor nice much like any other pub these days. Obviously had money spend on a refurb a few years back. Chairs and table weren’t clean, given the fact pub was quite in my opinion there’s no excuse for this! Obviously unmotivated or underpaid staff. The people who live upstairs added to the negative experience by allowing someone to charge stomping across the floor above. Perhaps play some music or get a licence to drown out the noise of the people living above. Food arrived and was disappointing with wilted side salad yuk ( try sprucing it up in ice cold water if you can’t afford fresh!). Presentation was poor, portions looked lost on huge plates? My partners Chicken Coujons arrived black burnt and cold??? The triple cooked chips were powdery, in short we were starving so ate what was palatable and didn’t hang around! Won’t be back.

we attended on a late afternoon on a tuesday. the bar and restaurant appeared pretty empty when we entered. initially there were no staff at the restaurant entrance which meant hanging around for about 2 minutes. the male barman stepped in and promised to get another staff member. the barman did his best to help and was very helpful. we were then joining by the waitress who'd been on the phone and apologised for the delay. the restaurant appeared clean, and well decorated. we were shown to our table and the female waitress was very friendly, giving us guidance on what our little one could have. drinks arrived quickly and so did the food. all the food was hot and side salads and bread appeared fresh. overall the food appeared reasonably priced, good portions and fresh. staff were friendly and helpful with a good choice of drinks and items on the menu. the day was very hot outside, but aircon inside kept the whole place nice and cool. only points to pick up on were; carpet had been taped down in places and appeared worn, toilets need a bit of a refresh (toilet seat wonky etc), but overall worthy enough of a 5* review

My husband and I have been coming here for the past year and have to say it’s a bit hit and miss. They’ve recently refurbished the venue and whilst the decor and atmosphere is good, the food is lacking. We went on Sunday and said we don’t think we’ll be back. Our previous visits were poor, but Sunday was awful. Our starters were cold. I had the garlic mushrooms which looked curdled and had a weird fishy taste to them and the dish was tiny. It was also smothered in a basil oil which was so overpowering and I think it was vegetable oil and not olive oil. Our mains were ok but took 90 minutes to arrive and when they did, we were told our cauliflower cheese was going to be with us in 10 minutes as the chef had forgotten it. It was all warm but certainly not hot and all tasted like it had been sat for hours so I don’t know why it took so long to come out. The carrot and swede mash portion was laughable. I think it’s style over substance here unfortunately. The servers are always so welcoming and lovely, just a shame they have to suffer the complaints due to an incompetent chef(s).

We had a family meal booked for our mums 60th birthday this Sunday 10th November. The service was perfect. The team and front of house staff were attentive, polite, professional and welcoming however, the food was the most disappointing meal we had ever had out. The turkey on the roast dinner was nothing but cheap processed jellified, tasteless watery slop, bland and just mush!. The pigs in blankets well, the sausage was so cold and the bacon it was wrapped in was so dry and you couldn’t even bite into it. The cauliflower cheese well, again frozen, floating in a watery sauce, which had no cheese whatsoever so ever - it was literally like a flour and water mix and resembled wallpaper paste it was Just vile. When the food was served to us some dishes had to be sent back as was stone cold. The cod and chips my daughter had was vile, again the fish fillet frozen in the middle , the batter raw and running down her chin, the only edible thing were the chips, even the mushy peas were all dried up and not fresh. My son had the child’s pizza, literally a microwave pizza, have had better from aldi! The dough wasn’t cooked/reheated through - and was soggy and wet. I complained to the manager Hayley, who was wonderful. She went above and beyond to apologise and rectify the problem as best she could, Agreed to take the food off of the bill, and offered us complementary deserts by way of apology as she knew this was a special occasion and the meal was completely unsatisfactory. One problem we could’ve probably accepted but every single element to every meal presented was just awful! Hayley and the team are wonderful and a credit to the company, I run a kitchen and have done for 7 years and I know that everything served was frozen food literally reheated , pigs in blankets pre cooked and kept refrigerated just to be heated up. The leeks may well have been the only thing cooked fresh on the day. Possibly the parsnips too, but that’s about all!! The chef needs some serious training or better still, sacking! Again I can’t emphasise enough how much Hayley went above and beyond to rectify as best she could. She was wonderful and deserves some recognition from the company for having to deal with this sort of thing, I could tell we were not the first and we certainly wouldn’t be the last....

We were seated at our booked table and just left, no one explained how to order or took a drinks order after 20 minutes my husband and son went to the bar to order drinks and we all tried to download the app. There was no signal and the WiFi wasn’t great but some of us managed to order our food on the app my daughter and her partner wanted their burgers plain and no option for that on the app so they went up to the bar to order with my other daughter who is coeliac and was told she needs to order from A member of staff. When at the bar they were told they are not sposed to order from the bar it is table service 🤷🏻‍♀️ now baring in mind we hadn’t had anyone come over to our table since being sat down (now 30mins ago) we didn’t know this. They were allowed to order at the bar apart from My coeliac daughter who was told she needed to order from a waitress! I managed to find one and asked her to come over to take the order 10 minutes later she still hadn’t come over so I found another waitress who came over straight away. Now the first food ordered came out about 30 mins after ordering which is ok, the other 5 of us were waiting over a hour for our food to come out! Most of the food was nice but my youngest daughter’s pizza was burnt. The manager was serving food and we raised or complaints with him but his excuse was he had only been open 3 weeks and it’s teething problems and no offer of any compensation! About 20 mins after the last person finished some of the plates were cleared then another 10 mins for the others to be taken. We got to the restaurant at 7.30 and at 10.20 we were asked if we wanted to order desserts (the first time anyone came over to our table to take any order) which was met with a no we definitely do not! We ordered all our drinks from the bar or off the app no one ever came over. We had to go to bar to ask where our food was after 55 mins of waiting and that’s when the manager came over. It was sposed to be a family treat meal out for Father’s Day but apart from the company of our 4 children and their partners/friends it was a disaster from Start to finish hopefully the manager gets it sorted soon as it is a stunning building and most of the...

Very disappointing experience… Booked a table for four persons, for a Saturday lunchtime meal. Whilst we were choosing from the menu we ordered our drinks. Us gents ordered two beers and the ladies had wine. Before I even tasted my long awaited beer (Stella), I noticed that the beer smelt mouldy and was off. I spoke to our waitress and advised her that the beer was off and was told that she hadn’t had any other complaints. She took the beer away mumbling, making out that I was complaining about nothing. So I ordered a different type of beer (Perroni) one that I usually wouldn’t drink. But now I had that dreadful taste in my mouth. Our food soon arrived and it was completely ruined, all I could taste was the gone off beer. Not to mention that we were served french fries instead of chips and the Burger bun was burnt. As (Perroni) isn’t my first choice of beer I then ordered a Pint of (Fosters). Once again as soon as I smelt and tasted the beer I knew it was off, again! Surely the staff should be checking the quality of the beer?? This is basic hygiene and quality control… This time I let everyone on the table smell the beer and they all agreed it was off without even tasting it… A lady member of our party called a different member of staff over and informed her that the beer had gone off. This time the waitress advised us that they had received complaints at the beginning of the week and that they had a company come in a clean the pipes. Clearly this didn’t work!!! We usually all have desserts, but due to the fact of the extremely poor service and the fact all I could taste was the gone off beers, we chose to settle our bill and leave. When paying I was asked was everything okay. Clearly our Lunchtime outing had been ruined! So I said No and she still continued to just take payment… and didn’t offer to send a manager over. All in all a...
