A little late getting round to our reviews from our July wedding at Roadford Lake.....but better late than never. What can we say other than everything was awesome. We generally had an awesome venue/location, with awesome weather for a totally awesome wedding!!! All held together by an awesome team. So a massive THANKS to you all!!!
Will was our point of contact as the hospitality manager at Roadford Lake and with the lake being run by a trust we were mindful that we needed to respect their views and wishes about what level of crazy we could push the boundaries with for our ideas. But with that being said Will and the "bigwigs" (as I called them) seemed to be fairly easy going and were open to discuss most of the ideas that we threw out there. With Will we generally have not met someone that was so helpful, cheerful and accommodating. It really helped us to feel at ease with our choice of venue and on the day just forget about the stress and worries which I can assure you we truly did.
Behind a great leader one would expect a great team.......and this really was the case. The whole Roadford Team were fantastic. From helping us set up and decorate the venue, to planting a tree, and to the dreaded tidy-up and taking down of the decorations they truly were awesome.
To anyone thinking about it we really do recommend a wedding at Roadford Lake. See you again...
Read moreVisiting Devon for the week. First time visiting. Cafe was lovely. Good selection of treats, ice-cream and drinks, although no prices on the cakes and cookies, which is really annoying. Friendly man behind the counter letting customers know he'd be with them soon. The lady with the blonde-grey bob not so much. She needed to pull up her mask instead of wearing it under her nose. Also, she used her hands to touch the ice-cream cone I ordered, which I think in the Covid pandemic, is unacceptable. Everywhere I've bought ice-cream has used napkins, or gloves to ensure they are not touching the cones. The lake is lovely and walks are beautiful. Lovely place to picnic/walk/enjoy nature. The 'play area' however is appauling and shouldn't be called a park. It's actually quite funny how awful it is. Two slides, two tyres, no swing and a couple of inventions thrown together by a bored person, with left over wood! Oh and a log to walk on. I would visit again, as it is a...
Read moreWow! After many years of afternoon tea, in many local venues, I can honestly say the afternoon tea at Roadford Lake was by far the very very best. The variety of delicious food was amazing from the home made savory quiche and scrumptious sausage rolls to the exquisite cakes and scones, lashings of cream and as much tea as you could drink. It was all beautifully presented on lovely wooden boards,on a table decorated with wild flowers and delicate vintage bone China, with stunning views over the lake on a bright sunny afternoon Jake and his wonderful team made us so welcome, nothing was too much trouble, the attention to detail and our enjoyment was superb. We were celebrating a birthday and the whole experience was just so perfect, from booking, arriving, enjoying, even taking home what we couldn't eat ! I would strongly recommend afternoon tea at Roadford for complete satisfaction, quality, care and beautiful surroundings. I can't...
