Never again.
Went out with a couple of friends for a catch-up last night and we chose the Church as this used to be a nice pub. Didn't start well when one of only two vegetarian options was unavailable so we basically had a "take it or leave it" choice. More people are becoming vegetarian these days so you guys really need to catch up with the times and offer a few options or, at the very least, have both of your veggie options available. A non-vegetarian can always choose a vegetarian option, but vegetarians are given virtually no choice here. The new menu is basically a rehash of the old one but with fewer options and higher prices.
One meal was served with the wrong veg. We were not even asked if we wanted anything else and my friend had to get up and track down some mayonnaise for herself. Vinegar bottles were empty and we had to try ones off three different tables before finding one with a little bit left in. There was no cutlery on our table and we had to find some for ourselves off a different table.
The blaring TVs in every corner of the pub made it a very unpleasant evening. There is not one room or corner you can go to get away from the noise. If it hadn't been raining, we would have sat outside in the dark with our food, it was that bad. We had to shout to make ourselves heard above the shouting, cheering and jeering from the football crowd and the blaring TVs. If we had not been dropped off so we could have a drink, we would have upped and gone elsewhere.
If you are into noisy pubs full of blaring TVs and football fans, you will probably enjoy this one. Otherwise I would go...

Read moreWhat a difference. We ate there about 2 years ago on a Sunday afternoon but there was not a great choice of food left. We had heard good things about the new landlady and decided to give it a try. Straight away we could tell we had made the right choice. From the warm friendly welcome to the recently updated menu, the place felt just like a pub should. We ordered a Sunday roast which was really impressive when it arrived, a chicken and ham pie which was also lovely. Our kids ordered of the children's menu but the portions were ample and their plates were clean at the end. Even when my son decided he needed a little bit of extra lettuce to make his burger perfect , his request was greeted with a smile and the lettuce arrived. The food was piping hot and tasty. The price made my pocket happy too. P/s you can download the greeneking app to get further reductions and a free first drink each! We left very happy and will definitely...
