Never again.
Service was bad, I had to get up and go to the pub counter to say I had finished a long time ago and was ready for the main.
They have a promotion of starter + main £18, I chose the dishes as per the promotion, the bill came £22!! I told the waiter it was wrong, he came back with a bill of £20, why? Because he said I had the duck, but I said I didn't have the duck! He immediately snapped back oh then you had the prawn! But I said the waitress said it was in the promotion and he replied SHE TOLD YOU IT WAS NOT INCLUDED !!!!! Unbelievable she never!!!! She confirmed my two choices were part of the promotion!!
So he came back annoyed with a new bill of £18. I told him no one made a satisfaction check with me, so he rolled his eyes and ask if I was happy with the meal. I finally had the chance to say I wasn't happy! The service was bad, the food was not Thai, it tried but didn't really taste Thai, the garnish were massive and inedible, the portions too small for this price. Complete fail.
Ah! And I had to eat sitting sideways because you can't cross your legs under the table.
I left and the waiter remarked in a sarcastic tone THANK YOU FOR TAKING TWO POUNDS OFF.
Never again.

Read moreFab little local with a great size menu filled with Thai delights. Very pretty building and village. Green curry was well spiced and recommended. Good sized portions and service was excellent, friendly, prompt and warm welcome. Would return, it might take a while to work through the menu but there is an amazing choice, everything sounded great! Only item that was just about ok was the salt and pepper squid, a little bland and and a bit overcooked so was chewy but its hard to get squid spot so don't wish to be harsh, probably just a one off. It was still rather nice and batter was perfect. Overall a very satisfying meal. Open fire in the bar area was lovely on a chilly evening and the decor is cozy and clean. Was mid week so quiet, but expected. Thanks for a nice experience and hope to see you again for some...
Read moreWe had a fantastic evening at The Crown and Thistle in Great Chesterford last night. The food was exceptional – authentic Thai flavours, beautifully presented, and cooked to perfection.
I had the Sea Bass Special, and the chef kindly prepared one fillet battered and the other grilled, as I couldn’t decide – such a lovely touch! Both were absolutely delicious. The prawn toast deserves a special mention too – I’ve genuinely never had prawn toast that good before!
Paul had the Panang Nuea (beef curry), which was rich, warming, and full of flavour. We were both so impressed.
The service was friendly and welcoming, and the pub itself is a lovely, characterful building that feels cosy and inviting.
Highly recommend – we’ll...
