We wish this was our local pub! A warm and friendly welcome and fabulous food, including a delicious vegan dishes (mention when booking). Update: just returned from another visit - faultless as usual. We've been customers for nearly 9 years now, and always enjoy our visits. Update 3/23: We can't stay away. Dinner with friends last night, and booked in for Sunday Lunch next weekend. We love the food, service and ambience at the Eagle Tavern!

I mean…WOW although the menu looks basic, food was amazing, very fresh, and very good quality. I ordered the lamb and I have never tasted the lamb so tender, and my partner ordered the steak, and he loved it. This is gonna be my favourite place for now so far!! Only one FOH staff for the whole evening, and he was very friendly, managed everything very well, very impressed he has done everything himself no matter how busy is it.

Nice friendly staff, nice food but fairly expensive. Yes its good food but we've had better for less. This place is definitely not about a cheap meal though. Its a nice place where you probably should put some smart togs on, and go mix with the wealthy locals. Portions arent huge, but thats absolutely fine for me. All in all a very pleasant experience.

My wife and I decided to stay the night at a ‘local’ pub/hotel as we were visiting the RIAT 2025 air show and it was a 2.5hr drive away from our home, so we decided to travel down the night before. The Eagle Tavern looked like it fitted the bill for a quick stay over, cosy, very English, in the Cotswolds. What could be better as a great starting point for our planned outing. WRONG . . . . . . . The cost of a ‘room-only’ stay had been inflated to £142 for the night, (due to the air show), a bit pricey, but I wanted to give my wife and I an easy early start to our planned day trip, so I reluctantly paid it, in the interests of ‘planning for a good day’. Oh dear! The room was very dated, the layout of the room was very questionable, the mattress was absolutely, (pardon my French), ‘shagged’ !! It was the worst nights ‘sleep’ my wife and I had ever had!! We got up earlier than we really wanted to, made a cup of tea, (in the outdated kettle etc), and because we weren’t having breakfast, we decided just to have the complimentary biscuits that accompanied the tea making facilities. Two out of the four were SOFT!! Heaven knows how long they had been in the room. Not a good experience, they need to update the rooms, update the fittings, replace the mattresses and remove unnecessary furniture, i.e. the ‘casting...

We had a one night stay with dinner recently and what a surprise it was! The Eagle Tavern is a charming little place but blink and you could miss it . We were greeted by Marek, a really helpful and accommodating young man. He showed us to our room which was fine if just a wee bit basic but in fairness the bed was very comfortable and the shower was fine. We thought hat maybe it needed a feminine touch to the room as there was just ‘something’ missing, well there was no wardrobe so that was missing but that isn’t what I mean. However, overall, no complaints. The biggest surprise came with the evening meal, it was fabulous. My husband had haunch of venison and I had the lamb rump and oh my goodness, what a treat! It was so unexpected to find this quality of food in a small, tucked away tavern in a remote village. The rest of the meal was equally good ( tomato soup and cheesecake for one of us) and then in the morning I had the best poached eggs for breakfast I have ever had. They were just perfect. So thank you Marek and crew, if we were local we would...
