For a chain, wasn't to bad to be fair. First time order so did it thru the app and got £5 off the total bill. Wait time for table was maybe 3 minutes, wait time for food about 25 minutes. Food was nice and portion size was right. Not sure why they serve your coleslaw, sauce, etc in those little steel taurines, maybe to add to the 'this is just above cafe experience' dining. It's not a game changer but any means and for some it'll be oooh that's a nice touch, so it's neither a + or a -. A bit odd that they'd run out (technical term is 'out of stock') on a few staples, ie Sunday roast. On a Sunday ! Pleasant staff, place looked busy in decor, and it was clean but if the regional manager paid a visit I'm sure they'd be contacting head office and asking for a 10k uplift for a paint job. Tatty skirting boards are a giveaway that a place needs some TLC. Tables where the varnish is wearing off, carpeting is down to threadbare in high pedestrian areas, the door to access the loo area doesn't have a handle so paint is thinning where customers touch to open it; It just needs a face-lift, and bearing in mind we're rapidly approaching summer, the remedial work should've been carried out in the Jan-Mar period where customer numbers are probably at their lowest. Total score was going to be a 5, but I have to stay true to a score that reflects EVERY aspect of the pub, so overall, a 4. That's actually a good score imo for a chain, especially with the decor and food availability. I'm being generous as could've really docked a point for each and given a high 3. The clincher would've been availability for the Sunday roast, moreover, whether they served frozen Yorkshire puddings, that would've literally bumped it up to a strong 4, or down to a low 3. It's a high traffic pub, situated at the side of the canal in Stanley Ferry (which is an obvious draw), so a 'flagship' outlet and should set the standard. It's not a disaster by any means, quite enjoyable, but I'm brutally critical so you can manage your expectations. The deal breaker is, after all that, would i go again ? Yep, nice food, value for money....
Read moreOur impromptu breakfast visit left a lasting positive impression. The Mega Breakfast, featuring 4 sausages, 4 bacon strips, 3 eggs, 3 hash browns, 2 toasts, baked beans, and mushrooms, offered both generous portions and remarkable value at just £9. The quality and taste of the meal added to its overall appeal.
The drink options were equally impressive, ranging from soft drinks and coffee to an array of alcoholic beverages such as Beer, Wine and Cocktails, all reasonably priced. The staff, while most of our interaction occurred during the food delivery due to online ordering, exhibited friendliness and courtesy.
In addition to the remarkable breakfast experience, Stanley Ferry further distinguishes itself with an extensive main menu offering a plethora of options to cater to diverse tastes. From savory delights to culinary specialties, the menu showcases a variety that ensures there's something for everyone. The dessert collection adds a sweet note to the dining experience, presenting tempting choices that round off the meal on a delightful and indulgent note.
The cleanliness of the restaurant was notable, with surprisingly modern-looking men's toilets that evoked a hint of Spanish architectural influence.
The highlight, however, was the breathtaking view. Overlooking a canal filled with houseboats, patrons can enjoy their food and drinks while appreciating the picturesque surroundings. The option to take a leisurely walk along the canal after the meal adds to the overall charm.
Practical amenities, such as a good-sized car park and an on-site Wacky Warehouse for children, contribute to the overall appeal of the...
Read moreWe were both excited to come for a nice meal to Stanley ferry after not being in so long. It was a shock from the moment we got in there. No one to greet us, when we eventually sat down no one came to acknowledge until our food was served! We were told we had to get up to get our own Cutlery and sauces and I’m not sure how long it’s been like that but it’s like a free for all, I noticed the self serve coffee machine too?! We might as well have cooked our dinner ourself too as we had to do the rest ourself!
I was excited to try the gravy burger which came with a extra pot of dipping gravy which was absolutely not a substantial pot to call an “extra dipping portion” I do like a good burger with salad but I simply cannot get on board with not even half a slide of lettuce as my salad on my burger! You cannot call that a burger with salad. I upgraded 50p for the salt and pepper chips and gosh I wish I didn’t!! It was simply a large portion of seasoning that seemed like someone accidentally put way too much on. Seasoning is absolutely not salt and pepper chips..not then your whole chips are smothered in it and they taste bitty! I have attached photos of both the meal and the shocking small piece of lettuce.
My partner’s burger on the other hand was nothing better but it could not get any worse. A flat disappointing burger.
I paid £20.64 for this meal due to there being a deal on and even though it was a decent enough price it was an absolute waste of my money!! This meal without the deal would have cost £31 and that Is definitely not worth £31.
It was so underwhelming and disappointing we will absolutely not...
