Never wrote a review in my life and I would’ve voiced my concerns to the manager but they wasn’t available at the time. Local to the area, use to come when it was the Barnsley oak never had any issues and used to come often, was interested as it changed ownership but won’t return, walked in asked bar man if we was OK to sit in room to the side as we planned to eat and spend evening in the pub he was very welcoming and said it was fine, when we entered the room the manager (I assume) was conducting a interview once my partner, my 2 children and I entered the room, the cook rolled her eyes and the manager said “should we go outside, I came in here because it was quiet”. Lovely for paying customers to hear.. then as we went outside to leave and walked past the table the interview was being conducted I heard a loud sigh from either the manager or cook. Way to make locals feel welcome. Shocking.

Only plus point young lad behind bar good with order was doing several jobs at once and was very apologetic but helpful. Advise for the manager, conduct interviews in private if you don’t want customers near you as you interview...

Very poor experience, booked a table for 09 people , were asked to Pre Order Food so they could make sure they could accommodate.

On arrival, no fruit for drinks (lemon lime etc) but to make it worse 2 meals came out and were completely the wrong thing, to be told we didn't have what you wanted so this is the alternative, amother 2 meals came with no vegetables to be told we don't have any.

1 - Why pre order then not have food we ordered (24 hours in advance notice) ? 2 - If you don't have something, surely it's our privilege to accept the change or pick another dish ? 3 - No veg on a plate of cottage pie ?

Contacted management and were not in the least bothered or intreasted (before posting this review).

Every place can have a busy day / off day , its the way its managed that sorts a situation.

Ill not be spending my hard earned...

Superb first time visit the the Barnsley Oak and it will be our goto from now on. Food was excellent with an extensive menu on offer. We all are different from the menu, to gather a cross section of opinions. All five of us made our choices, these being a roast beef dinner - excellent, the beef was tender and tasty, the veg very nice. The others had the following, all saying their meals were without exception very good. They ate hunter chicken, lasagne, chilli con carne and finally chicken curry all very tasty. The drinks were very good also. The young lady who served us at our table was polite, patient (she had to be lol !) made great suggestions of the items on the menu. She was serving in multiple areas, inside and outside the establishment, but never once neglected our needs. Overall we would recommend the Barnsley Oak...
