I had my birthday meal here yesterday . The food was outstanding the service was excellent and the prices were more than reasonable. Staff were very atentative . Would highly recommend a visit. Will be going back at the end of the month and am looking forward to it...... Last post was 2 years ago. This time we went there is a new chef and they have a brand new menu. All i can say is wow. We all cleared our plates.( Apart from my mother in law who took her fish home as it was a large fish and she had it later)The food was hot and delicious, well presented and the portions were perfect we tried starters, sides and mains but as we had birthday cake we didn't try the deserts. Again the staff were so helpful and made it more perfect. This place is a must for anyone wanting a really good meal and great atmosphere.

Been here a few times over the years and it’s never failed. Even since when I was a child and came here first in 2015, the food has always been amazing. Every time I’ve come I’ve had the lamb shank and sticky toffee pudding. The lamb shank is cooked to absolute perfection which falls off the bone while being juicy and flavoursome and covered in a gorgeous gravy. The potatoes and veg are cooked amazingly and are heavenly with the gravy. The chips I had from someone else were crispy and perfect even though I’m not a massive lover of chips. And the sticky toffee pudding is to die for, sweet and flavoursome and amazing with custard (or ice cream). It’s never failed over the years I’ve been here. The service is always great with friendly and cheerful staff who do a great job. Will hopefully be able to come again.

I came here after a walking Pen y Fan, and only found the Aberglais Inn by chance as it was the closest we could find. We had no expectations and were pleasantly surprised with everything about the place. First of all, the Aberglais Inn is dog friendly, and we sat outside on the deck where they have heaters above the tables. The staff are really friendly and helpful with all of our needs, the bar has a good selection of IPAs and the food was top notch. My dad had the pie and chips which he enjoyed and was impressed with the amount of gravy he received. I had the Aberglais chicken which was fantastic, it was smothered in a lovely creamy sauce and they gave me an extra serving for good measure. I'll be returning for my next walk in the area that's for sure, highly recommended.

We went there for dinner whilst on a short trip to Wales based on their high ranking in the reviews. The staff were very nice and friendly and the waiter did his best to find as a table as we didn't book it in advance. The waitress brough a water bowl for our dogs too as soon as she had seen them. The food was nice, typical pub food though id say. The list of specials on the board was limited to just one dessert and one main. I appreciate it was Wednesday but there were quite a few people in so not sure why it was such a small choice. We wanted to order lamb shanks from the main menu but they said they didn't have any so my partner went for a chicken fillet wrapped in cured Welsh ham and I went for a lamb shank pie which was the only special. I'm puzzled how you can have a lamb shank pie but no lamb shanks available so they're clearly made well in advance. We were sat right next to their ladder door and the door through which the kitchen was accesses. Shortly after we placed our order we saw a waitress coming out of the ladder with a pack of frozen, sliced Tesco ham. As we nine of there guests were later having ham sandwiches we realised that my partner's Welsh ham was in fact just the off the shelve sliced Tesco one which was disappointing. The food was nice overall but nothing special, especially given the above. Our daughters had scampi and chips which were just a typical out of a bag scampi. The reviews seemed to indicate a gastro pub with much better food so perhaps I set my expectations too high. It was OK and decent but not more than that. And if the owners are reading this, please, get some proper ham or at least hide the Tesco one better so customers can't see what...

Visited yesterday. Absolute shambles unfortunately from the time we entered. We waited 25 minutes for the our food order to be taken which wasn’t a huge issue. However, we then watched tables sat way after us get their food but nothing came out for us. After 50 minutes had passed from our order being taken (nearly an hour and half in the establishment) the waitress realised that we hadn’t had our order. We were told ‘it’s just coming’ when clearly they hadn’t put our order through as the waitress asked us to confirm our order again. 15 minutes later food arrives and to top it off the order was wrong - chicken burger ordered came out as a beef burger! Also when ordering, my partner wanted lamb shank (as not serving Sunday lunch today for some reason?) we were told they had run out. A table that came in after us but had their food before us both had lamb shank! One positive was the food was okay and portion size good but unfortunately we were so annoyed and fed up after nearly two hours of waiting we just couldn’t enjoy the experience and rushed it down us to get out of there, the table didn’t even get cleared before we were up and out of the door. Will not...
