Ruined mother's day with their money grabbing behaviours.
We had this booked in for ages, a table of 8 and we were all planning to have Carvery to keep things simple... should be easy right?
As soon as we arrived we were in a queue to get seated. While queuing we could see a large queue at the bar with people ordering food, so as soon as we were shown to the table we joined the queue for ordering. In front of us were about 10 other tables waiting to order food. For the first 15 minutes the queue didn't move one bit. After a total of 45 minutes we got to the end of this queue to finally order our food and drinks. It was very quickly apparent why it took so long as the person taking orders also served all your drinks. One of my party had asked us to order a hot chocolate (which was on the menu), but we were told they don't do them....
We ordered the carverys and puddings (cannot order carvery without it being two courses apparently!). We then went to pay, but their till wasn't accepting Apple or Google Pay for anything over £45, so the bill needed to be broken down... after a few failed attempts (another 5 minutes gone) at this they had to get someone else to look at it and said they would sort it later. Oh and also they normally accept NHS discounts (my wife is a nurse), but not today (because of course its their busiest day and they want maximum profits).
While at the till we heard one member of staff complain to another about how busy it was and she said out loud for all to hear that next year she'll remember to book this day off because its so busy.
Finally after an hour we were sat down to eat.
We are then approached by staff to tell us that two of the puddings we ordered are now not available... and can we order something else.
Food was fine, nice friendly chef, but by this point we were all starving and frustrated.
Finally we go to pay and it still takes them ages to sort it and despite complaining aren't even offered the slightest discount to apologise, not even to refund puddings we didn't actually want but had to order in place of the ones they didn't have!
Overall a terrible experience. Non-sympathetic management which reeks of money grabbing over good customer experience and service. Needless to say we will not...
Read moreOn arrival we were greeted by a lovely girl this evening who asked if we would like a table , we explained we were sitting outside in the play area and was showed to the bar where we continued to order our food and drinks which consisted of 5 bowls of chips and a portion of chicken wings , as we were a little indecisive about one of the drinks for the children my partner looked up to find the manager rolling her eyes which for a start I felt was quite awkward. We were not informed at the time of ordering that there was a wait time which we would have no problem with but then 45 minutes later we still hadn’t received our food, my wife went to the bar to order more drinks and at this point the manager asked if we were ready for our desserts which the manager was then informed we still hadn’t had our mains , after waiting another 10 minutes at that point I went to ask the manager if she knew how long our food would be. I felt when I asked the manager she was not at all approachable as in a not very approachable manner she told me ‘well there is a wait time’! I explained we were never informed of a wait time, which as I had already said would of been fine but it was her whole attitude towards my question of asking if she knew how long the wait was for our order, she simply turned her back on me and went into the kitchen and loud enough for me to hear with quite an attitude she shouted to the kitchen staff how long the food would be for our order. We are regular customers and have never had a problem before but me and my family have felt very uncomfortable on this visit. She wasn’t at all wanting to be friendly or attentive to our needs. I feel your managers in this kind of industry should know how to deal with all aspects of dealing with any questions or queries in an approachable manner. Worst experience Ever, booked table for 6 arrived at 6, was told there was 30 minute wait, we all.agreed no problem ordered our food at 6:11, and was told food wait was 45 mins, we continued to order, 6:22 2 lots of starters came out, but due to bar lady putting wrong table they sent the food back, after asking about the food it turned out it was for our table, 6:45 another 3 starters came out, 6:50 4 people out 16 arrived there mains, 7:10pm. We asked how long the rest of food will be they said 10 mins, 7:30 asked again they said it's just being dished up. 7:45i mentioned we had been there since 6 there reply was we can't make the food cook any faster, again waited another 15 minutes spoke to the manager and explained everything, manager said it'll be there in 5 another 10.mins go by and everyone's getting frustrated but we asked the table waiter what was going on he apologised and went and spoke to.managers he then told.its.being brought out now and apologised again, we explained he didn't have to apologise it's not his fault 5 minutes later 4 more people got there food then another 5 minute the rest was brought out nearly 2 hours after ordering it. I had mixed grill other chose different things. I didn't eat most of it the meat was all dry and burnt even tho I asked for my steak rare all staff were very rude mainly all young girls and manager apart from the one male waitor.
