Ascona Cafe Express, Crossgates — Restaurant in Wales

I'd never been here before but had heard about it so I decided to pay a visit and stop for lunch.The cafe is great with lovely staff and plenty of seating inside and out.i ordered a cheeseburger,chips and salad and it was just about ok.The chips were nice as was the salad but the burger wasn't the best quality and I thought it might come with various toppings ie lettuce pickles,onions etc but it was just a not so great burger in a bun and that was it.There were 2 burgers which I should have mentioned and at the price it was quite cheap at £10.90 with a coffee but I'd rather pay more for a better quality burger.ill definitely go back here tho as I did like the cafe and the atmosphere there.i'll just stay clear of the burger in future Just visited again and I got the large breakfast which I thought for £9.50 including coffee and toast was amazing and it was a great...

Had a stop off as I have many times before! Ordered a breakfast at 2 pm on Tuesday 15th June, right to the cut off time for serving. The egg on my plate was undercooked and I’m not a complainer, so I ate only the white of the egg and felt unable to finish much of the meal which is so unusual for a person with my level of appetite. I thought no more and headed home. Following early hrs of the next morning having eaten nothing else I awoke with severe stomach cramps. I am now on my fifth day of illness and unfortunately hospitalised with C Diff. I am not blaming anyone but urge your staff to cook the eggs well, as with all food, to ensure that any nasty bugs don’t get left on the meals presented. Arrived 12.45pm. One girl on the till taking the orders AND serving the hot drinks. Queue was long and very slow moving. 12.55pm order was taken. Was advised 30-45 min wait for food. Despite several young people on staff along with ‘chef’, many tables were left piled with dirty plates, cutlery had run out along with latte cups, sauces and napkins were replenished only following customers’ prompts. Our food arrived at 1.40pm but was incomplete - order sausage and egg barms - our eggs were missing! Eggs were quickly added. Food was ok though sausages were clearly cheap as had no flavour. Two barms and two coffees £13.20. Not cheap. This could be a great cafe but ‘Express’ it is NOT. The owner needs to reassess how the staff are utilised as customer side, it isn’t working on so...
