My friends and I visited this parlour after our Tai Chi class, it's usually a coffee and home but one friend suggested an ice cream. I've drove past thid parlour loads of times and wounder why an earth I've not turned off to have a look...... We arrive, ample parking, there are all old buildings around so straight away I personally felt relaxed and liked it, this scene and feeling followed on in through all the other builders, very oldy worldy.
The staff were really great and welcoming. On sale were loads of pop-eyeing ice creams...I am going to try them all. I had a vanilla, toffee and pecan nut on a honey comb waffle....still now my mouth Is watering....the ice cream was real creamy and you could taste the vanilla the toffee was not sweet or a sugary taste it was a nice mild runny toffee..Mmmmm...and pecans they were just pecans, the waffle was warm and so fresh, sweet and soft to bite into....scrummy As I said it is my mission to try every ice cream, some would say it's expensive for an ice cream but this is a treat.....I found it reasonably priced for the love and work that has gone into this dreamy thick creamy ice cream.....so why don't you treat yourself and go visit this family run parlour you will not be disappointed only "hooked".....like...
Read moreWe visited on Tuesday 9th August. We had waffles with ice cream. Overall the setting was lovely, a nice find away from the crowds. There was plenty of parking and easy access for one of our group using crutches. There was a huge selection on the menu, spoilt for choice really. The 'warm' waffles weren't warm at all but the overall taste was good, portion size was good and price was fair. We noticed there were fabulous views but sadly you couldn't really see them/appreciate them as the shrubbery above the wall hadn't been cut back. This place would be a 'must visit' if they let customers see the view while sitting to eat on the outdoor tables and chairs. One star taken off for cold waffles advertised on the menu as warm. There was another family there with young kids, it was good to see the owners had put out some small rockers/toys for them. Would go again but would want 'warm'...
Read moreBeen meaning to visit for some time. I was a bit confused by the change in name - it used to be 'Hapus' but now seems to have undergone a re-branding- thought I might have gone to the wrong place initially. Dessert and coffee were nice. Waited at a vacant table for 10 minutes before realising that I needed to order in the 'shop' which was a bit disappointing considering that there was only one other couple there. Electrics in the toilet didn't seem to be working and its appearance tended to gave it a slightly run-down air not necessarily reflected elsewhere. There was a very small play area for young children, which was a nice touch. Prices seemed to be reasonable. Seemed a shame that it wasn't busy as it was a nice day albeit on a Monday afternoon in June. If you wanted an afternoon tea or ice cream and didn't want to sit out in a pub beer garden then...
