Benllech Tandoori Restaurant — Restaurant in Wales

Decided to try the Benllech Tandoori Restaurant after hearing so many promising reviews of the place. It seemed to be the go-to Indian takeaway on Anglesey and some had suggested, in North Wales. We pre-ordered online for collection and were really looking forward to our evening treat, our first Indian takeaway since pre-Covid. Thought we'd try collecting first then would move to delivery next time as we had every expectation of having another order soon. Really wanted somewhere with great food and a nice environment if we wanted to take a guest out for a curry. Arriving to collect, the experience is not great. The restaurant is upstairs and you go up an absolutely filthy carpeted staircase to get to the entrance. Needs replacement. The entrance door is glass and once you enter the restaurant, the sun at the time was streaming through the window behind me, showing up the absolutely filthy windows, that hadn't been cleaned for (ever?)... no attention to cleanliness then... during Covid? There's no excuse. So, can't take guests then, how about the food? The waitress I spoke to was polite and efficient and the food was ready at the time I'd booked. Trying the food at home, the bhaji and samosa, while tasty were all dry and hard to cut into. My Peli Peli was bright neon red, very runny and very sweet, and not that great overall despite some tender chicken pieces. My wife's Welsh Lamb Balti was plain and unexciting. Neither meal tasted interesting and what IS that red? We both ate our meals but the disappointment we both experienced in what we were so initially excited about was a real shame. My wife placed an order this evening on the website before the restaurant opened and my wife then had a phone call from a lady saying they dont start delivering until 5:40pm and that it might be delivered a bit late by 15mins and checked with my wife if we still wanted the order which my wife agreed.

Delivery driver turned up to our surprise at about 5:40pm.

This is the first time we have eaten food from here and to be honest...I WAS BLOWN AWAY WITH HOW GOOD the food wasi really enjoyed it alot!!!

I weight trained earlier in the day and thought its friday....lets get a curry in!!!Let me tell you i had a whale of a time sitting there with everything ploughed on my plate and i was munching on the lot and polished the whole plate it was gorgeous, i really enjoyed the meal it was absolutely fantastic 😁

Nothing from our order was missing and i was just really impressed with the food 😁.

My wife had welsh lamb masala with onion bhaji,naan and half a pilau rice.

And i had a chicken madras,onion bhaji,poppadoms and half a pilau rice and i got all the sauces none were missing oh and we tryed some tandoori chicken an that was lovely too.

This was an amazing meal and i love a good curry.This restaurant is now definately mine and my wifes go to place for a decent curry im that impressed i just had to leave a 5 star review.

What a way to wind down from a weight session earlier in the day to then sit down in the evening and chow this gorgeous food!!!!

The food itself was lovely, can't fault it, however service was absolutely appalling! Ordered for collection on a Wednesday, confirmation saying would be ready for collection at 6pm, drove 15 minutes to collect it as we had read good reviews about the food. When first got there, there was a girl serving someone else at the door, so I waited until she was finished, she then wandered off and never came back again, rang bell, no answer so went up into restaurant, had to get someone's attention as they were so understaffed. I was told to take a seat and my food would be ready shortly; I waited 1hour and 15 minutes before my meals were ready!! Nobody updated me, I asked several times what was happening, and was consistently told it would be 5-10 minutes, during which time several other customers had come in for collection and were ignored at the door, and waited a considerable time as well.

Although I can't complain about the food itself as it was lovely, they really need to work on their customer service and their coordination in the kitchen, it is absolutely not on to keep people waiting and ignore them at the door, and not even an apology, or anything in way of an apology or compensation.
