Very disappointing Sunday lunch at the Bod Erw yesterday. Booked in for 12 noon. The bar staff took too long to give us two drink (a wine and a lager) then when we were showed to our table it was a table for 12 people. I asked the waitress if we had to share because they were short of tables but was told she thought I had said I was with a group of 12, what I actually said that I was Mrs. Davies and had booked a table for 2 at 12 oclock. She apologised and showed us to another table by the front door which had the filthiest chair I have ever sat on in a restaurant but it looked like the only place free. I had to go over to the bar to ask them to take our order as it had been a while since we had been given the menu's. I ordered a roast chicken dinner and was not impressed at all with the presentation. It looked as though they had scraped the carcass of the chicken in order to make a portion up for me and it was slimy and full of veins. Hardly any gravy so it was dry too, so I left most of it. The cabbage, which I only had a mouthful of I could not chew because it was so stringy and seemed like it had only been blanched rather than cooked. I did tell the waitress that I was disappointed with the meal but no discount was offered: we did not stay for dessert or coffee and we will not be going again. I paid £9.50 for a plate of potatoes for...
Read moreGreat atmosphere and decorated beautifully for Christmas. Food was nice, would've liked a few more choices on their Christmas menu personally but I could pick a couple bits I liked. I had the slow cooked welsh beef for a main with roasties and some veggies. The roasties looked lovely and crisp so dove into them straight away only to then burn the entire roof of my mouth which blistered within seconds which meant I couldnt finish my food, what I had of the beef was lovely, very sad I couldnt finish it.
The inside of the roasties were dry where the outside was like a hard crisp so led to believe they had been warmed up in the microwave.
At the end when we'd decided we'd had enough, our server came to take our plates away. She asked if everything was okay and we mentioned that I couldn't finish my food due to burning the entire roof of my mouth on a roastie and that I was in pain because of this. She apologised and then said "at least it wasn't cold" then proceeded to take the plates away. Later that evening I had to go to a&e due to this as it had blistered so badly I was struggling to breath, I could barely talk because the roof of my mouth had doubled in size.
The whole experience would've been extremely high quality had the unfortunate event not happened.

Read moreWow! Just returned from an impromptu lunch at Bod Erw. What can I say ... it was one of the best meals I've ever eaten!
To start, I had the Soup of the Day which was delicious and piping hot. My husband couldn't resist the Blackpudding Scotchegg which was absolutely perfect and runny inside. For main, I had the tastiest Pan Fried Chicken, served on a bed of savoy cabbage and bacon with creamy mash and red wine sauce. It was absolutely 10 out of 10 and my husband devoured the Beer Battered Haddock and Chips which was absolutely huge! Eventhough we were full to the brim we just had to try the Eaton Mess which we shared, again absolutely spot on.
The bar and waiting on staff were so helpful and lovely to chat with from the start, nothing was too much trouble. We also had the absolute pleasure of meeting the Head Chef who was so passionate about his menu and new team. We will definitely be returning to Bod Erw on a regular basis now and will be highly recommending to all friends and family.
Definitely give here a try, I promise you...
