Thinking carefully before delivering feedback about local businesses is very important, especially in the current economic climate.
My review is based on two visits to Braf. The first was ok, I found the team a bit off with me (even though I had booked) perhaps as we didnāt fall into the demographic around us. Breakfast. The food was fair, I had pancakes which were a little underdone. My wife had eggs on toast or something. It was ok⦠the cakes looked decent and homemade, I wanted to try something but was just too full on that occasion and of course cake at breakfast was a little early too.
The second visit was fairly unpleasant. I am local (and have been for many years) though donāt have a local accent. I canāt help thinking after two visits that people who donāt have a local accent or indeed speak Cymraeg receive a little less warm welcome. Anyway I donāt want to dwell on that as that was my personal experience.
I took my family to Braf whilst they visited the area. We had the dog so sat outside. My family like āplain fareā. Whilst on holiday they tended to eat cake around lunchtime, I on the other hand would normally eat lunch. Have you ever eating cake at 12:30? Well apparently not here! We were told in no uncertain terms that we couldnāt have cake and they were only serving lunch (they were quiet and only had four tables in). I decided that we had been suitably embarrassed by their curtness and went back outside to inform the rest of our party⦠a ālunchā menu was then thrust upon us⦠even though we had decided we didnāt want lunch.
So off we went to spend our hard earned wages...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI thought Iād treat my mum for a coffee and cake today , I was recommended this place from friends , we arrived to find the smaller tables all had left over plates and drinks still on them , so had to take a big table up . I went to order , was about five staff milling about , looking busy but not much getting done . I made the order and sat down and waited and waited and waited , I went back to check how long the coffees would be and was told busy and Iām in a queue, so sat back down again and waited . I then after waiting over 30 minutes yes 30 minutes went back to cancel the order as we had to get back home and no time to wait . On cancelling she said we was next , I said itās only a couple of coffees surely you could of made them while others waited for the food orders . Lots of other people had been waiting ages and saying it was ridiculous, not even full house . The staff all young and inexperienced and definitely not very productive. The food that did come out all looked lovely but most didnāt get the food order all together was a plate hear then 10 minutes later they arrived with another plate , you could see everyone looking at their watches wondering why their orders taking so long . Staff need training up and somewhat less talking more serving . Not dog friendly either...
Read moreServed by the owner. Baking hot day, wanted a cold sugar free drink. "We don't have any". I was served a cold tap water in a hot glass! The lunch menu is scant, maybe 4 choices. 2 of those were flan and sausage roll- only one portion of either available at 13.00! Being English ( in a tourist area) seems a bit inconvenient to the owner. Almost impossible to read the specials board, poor writing, and very hard to interpret what was on the menu for non Welsh speakers. After paying £25 for a sausage roll and a flan with lettuce and cous cous I returned to our table. My wife said to me the place was very pretentious. In a flash the owner was at our table giving her a 2 minute dressing down for her opinion. An opinion which was 100% correct. You would be better using the beach cafe at the other side of the road. We went there for tea and cake later. Friendly service AND they had sugar free drinks!
