The Brittania Inn Halkyn...
What can I say.... I live few hundred meters up the road. Go here most Fridays after work with the lads since it's reopened with new owners. Never had a problem until today.... Booked a table for four of us at 2 o clock. Sunday roast. We were early so had a drink outside no problem. Lovely views. Sat down a two clock at our table and ordered our food at the bar.. I orderd for me and my wife as i do not have gravie on any of my food ,just to let the staff know when cooking my Sunday roast which she said was no problem . After waiting one hour we asked about our starters, then they came. We ate them waited another hour for our mains. Asked about them then they finally turned up. Mine had gravy on. I know it's not much to most but I couldn't eat it.i told the waitress who took it back returning with a order slip from the kitchen telling me that i hadnt instructed them about the alteration with the dinner upon ordering.i told her i couldnt eat it. She came back instucting me thar they could make me a fresh one but it would take 20 minuits. I'd already been waiting 2 hours. At this point , everyone else in our party was eating and i couldnt wait any longer. I then told the waitress( not her fault) i wanted to speak to the manager/ess who turned out to be the Head chef so I waited at the bar for her for a refund on my meal.... She the approached me with such an attitude that it was my fault her chef hadn't turned in and that she was busy........ I told her that i was local and didn't want to leave a bad review and all I got was your being an arse???and she had never seen me the b4 and i wasnt local??? I was so embarrassed because of this so my friend came over because of her attitude then he got the same. This was in front of everyone . So embarrassing. All my fault her staff hadn't turned inn. Then she told me never to come back again and barred me. Thursday the 13july is the medium night at the Brittania inn. Two weeks ago I had left deposits for 6 tickets for the medium night for my family and friends of Halkyn. After being told today not to come back today she gave me my deposit back for all 6 tickets and my money for my meal which I hadn't even had. It's real shame as I was treated like this in my local pub because it was all my fault she's was short staffed, streesed and her chef hadn't turned up. I am so embarrassed and i wouldn't back even if she hadn't...
Read moreAbsolutely shocking. 2 hours wait for our mains. 1 came out wrong, asked to wait longer so they could get it right, after already waiting 2 hours and other guests at the table had been served. 1 came out like slop with salty gammon. Raised our concerns, to which 'manager' came out, and basically went on the attack. My friend was sat and very polite, never swore at 'manager' but he was called an a**e and barred. Talk about cut your nose of to spite your face. 'Manager' tried to say, she was very busy and on her own in the kitchen, and as much as we get that, that's not a customers fault. Said didn't realise how busy they were going to be, she's the manager apparently, but didn't know how many bookings they'd taken?? Very rude, and offensive, calling customers and lying. Friend lives local and spends a lot of money in there with work colleagues. To say him being barred has lost the place about £2000 a month, would not be exaggerated. Avoid if possible, especially if its 'busy' because the so called manager...

You can even see Blackpool tower on a clear day. Food quality was good and promptly served with absolutely minimal wait time but was not served very hot and being outside it cooled too quickly. The problem with this lovely public house is that it has had a whole series of tenent landlords who have never seemed able to help it reach its full potential. A huge carpark, plenty of space indoors and outside as well as a small 6 or 8 pitch caravan site for touring vans as well as a limited number of guest rooms. An ideal location for thousands of tourists travelling in both directions along the A55 to and from Anglesey/Holyhead and many other parts of the beautiful coastline of Wales. We hope the new tenent/landlord who is also the chef is able to make a success of it and is...
