Visited on 2 Aug with family. The Bryn is a fantastic local asset and has a good mix of customers from both the wider local community and holidaymakers. It was uplifting to see both customer bases get an equally warm and friendly welcome from the bar staff.
The Bryn is large throughout with several different spaces across the entire layout, each with a somewhat different vibe. We sat in the large area off the bar room, at a table overlooking the beautifully maintained beer garden where local workmen enjoyed a post-work pint amongst happy families and little ones making the most of the play area.
I opted for the vegan vegetable curry which came with a mini naan. It wasn’t what I expected at all, it was more of a spicy tomato stew, which was certainly tasty enough but I really was looking forward to an authentic tasting veg curry. It also would have been taken to the next level with a popadom or two which I would have been happy to pay for as an extra/side order to add a bit of crunch/texture.
For dessert I chose the vegan cookie butter cheesecake… oh my gosh… utter joy! Served with a garnish of the tastiest blueberries ever and a drizzle of chocolate sauce, it was sublime.
We ordered the mojito mocktails for our boys as a fancy treat but they arrived as a plain lime flavoured drink, no fresh lime or fresh mint etc as stated on the menu. They were disappointed so I spoke to bar staff who were more than happy to put it right which our boys really appreciated.
Family members all enjoyed their food and looking around at neighbouring tables, there’s plenty of tasty options on the menu at the Bryn Arms. We noticed posters advertising various upcoming tribute nights which look great and will surely tempt us back soon.
The Bryn is a great venue for all ages although a child friendly pool table or a relaxing of the rules would be very much appreciated. The outdoor play area is best suited to younger children and the pool table is over 16’s only, which means there’s nothing for the older children to do. It would be great if they were allowed to enjoy a game of pool with an accompanying adult. It may seem insignificant but it’s all part of the whole family experience and would encourage us to stay longer and enjoy more drinks.
The new general manager, Steven, came and chatted with us at the end of our meal which was lovely. He is keen to build up the Bryn to its fullest potential and seems willing to do whatever it takes. He has lots of experience across the hospitality industry and we think he will do well here.
Thanks ‘team Bryn’ we’ll be back soon.
P.S. we read somewhere that if you’re in a camper van you can stay overnight in the car park if you enjoy a meal at the establishment… what a brilliant idea and great use of the car park land. An extra way to...
Read moreIf you're looking for a cozy and friendly pub with great food, you might want to check out Bryn Arms. I went there with my family for the Sunday carvery and we were all very impressed by the quality and quantity of the food. The carvery was excellent value at £13.95 a head, with huge portions that left us feeling satisfied and happy. We had a choice of three meats (beef, pork and turkey) and a vegetarian option (nut roast), along with a variety of vegetables, gravy and sauces. Everything was cooked to perfection and tasted delicious.
We enjoyed the pub so much that we decided to go back for the curry night on Friday. It was as equally excellent as the carvery, with a range of spicy and mild curries to suit everyone's taste. We had chicken tikka masala, lamb rogan josh, vegetable korma and dal makhani, served with rice, naan bread, poppadoms and chutneys. The curries were rich and flavorful, and the portions were generous.
One of the best things about Bryn Arms is that it's dog friendly. We brought our fox terrier along and he was welcomed by the staff and other customers. He even got some treats from the barman. The pub has a nice atmosphere, with a fireplace, wooden beams and a beer garden. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the service is quick and efficient.
I would highly recommend Bryn Arms to anyone looking for a great pub experience in the area. It's one of my favorite places to eat and drink now, and I can't wait to...
Read moreVisited for Sunday carvery with family to mark my mother's birthday. Had reserved a table 5 days previously to avoid dissappointment. Beautiful setting in Snowdonia and the sun was out. Visited previously many years ago and I was very impressed with the modern make-over that the establishment has been given, inside and out. We were directed through to the dining room to our table. Decor was in fashionable muted grey colours and very pleasing. We ordered our drinks at the bar and paid for our meals before queuing for our carvery. The staff were friendly and Welsh speaking like ourselves and we all had a good rapport going! Choice of 3 meats, beef, turkey and pork. Went for pork and turkey meat which was already sliced and served onto our plates and Yorkshire pud. Choice of veg was roast pots, mashed pots, peas, carrots, broccoli, shredded cabbage and the most glorious cauliflower cheese I have had for a long time with the cheese having been browned in some areas- delicious! The only down side we felt was NO STUFFING! What a shame! All in all we enjoyed our meals and all cleared our plates and we definitely will be back!
