Simply the best pub dining experience I have ever had.

Having worked as a hospitality consultant for over 5 years, I have visited many pubs like this that have ventured into offering a dini g experience.

I have, however, never experienced a pub that offers such a fantastic level of service and exceptional food. From the outset you are made to feel welcome by all of the staff. It is easy to identify them as they appear to be the happiest team of people I have ever met. Beaming smiles, a genuine enjoyment of the job and not at all intrusive but professional.

The food is on par with some of the best dining experiences I have ever had. It surpasses the quality of dining I have experienced in some Michelin starred restaurants. The portions are generous, the food is incredibly fresh and it is heart and soul warming comfort food.

There isn't a thing I can fault this place on. I have friends visiting Shrewsbury soon (a fair hours travel away) who I have advised to make the detour to here. They definitely won't be disappointed.

I shall...

We were passing through the area and found this place on trip advisor, popped in for dinner tonight (15/4/25). Lovely little country pub, nice welcome. My partner and sat in the dining room in front of a large fireplace. My partner had steak which she enjoyed and I had an absolutely incredible burger (The Bull Burger), I’m somewhat a connoisseur of a pub buger, it’s a regular order of mine and this one was probably the best one I’ve ever had and that’s saying something. Absolutely perfect, fresh, juicy and delicious with some crisp salad and soft fresh bun, home made fries and even home made slaw which was all great. Really good job. Even kept a 5 star rating from the initial disappointment of not having an IPA on draft or even in a can. Special mention to the waitress who was incredibly accommodating to my diabetic partner, thank you.

Definitely something to fix but this place is on our list if we’re in the area...

We came for Sunday lunch on 8/9/24. This was our first time here we have a caravan in Garthmyl so the Bull & Heifer is about 15-20min drive we like to try different places for Sunday lunch when we’re down there. I can honestly say that the Sunday roast we had is in the top 5 that we have had. The beef was cooked perfectly the gravy was the best I’ve tasted you tell it was real homemade. The veg was all cooked to my liking. My partner had the roast pork which said was lovely too but could have done with a couple more slices. I had the white chocolate sundae lovely & my partner had the Artic roll which was also lovely. It was pretty quiet for a Sunday I thought but maybe the weather had a lot to do with it as it was a very wet day. The beer garden looked very nice & I can see it being very busy when the weather is better. The staff were lovely & polite. If we are back that way I wouldn’t hesitate in...

A very nice traditional pub. Feels old and well maintained. The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. Between my wife and son we had pie of the day, beef short ribs, and I had the bull burger. My mouth is watering as I said this a full two days later. The burger was probably the second best I've had in my life with the best in a hotel restaurant in Mauritius and I'm not even sure that's just the memory or if it really was better. We'll be back again this week (whilst on holiday) and my only regret is that I can't bring myself to try another dish because the burger is that good I simply have to have it again. There's ample parking and outdoor seating when the weather permits. This is a rare gem of a pub I wish I lived closer to. Don't miss an opportunity to enjoy an amazing meal here.

Great pub, good atmosphere, and staff were very friendly and attentive. We had decided to go for the Christmas bottomless brunch. Food was tasty, but potions were small, and the starter was described as a snack. I have never seen anything that small served to me before on a plate. The main was good, but again, the portion was small. The dessert was okay, a decent portion, but the pancake tasted quite dry. After three courses, we were left still feeling a little bit hungry. If the food was a little disappointing, the drinks were not. I started with Prosecco, then punch, mulled wine (which was not very hot, but lovely flavour). We were served with drinks on a regular basis throughout our two hour slot, which was definitely good value.
