I don't normally like the queue up and order food concept - just seems a bit too much like a canteen to me. However, here it is done fairly well and the customer service is professional and friendly so you don't just feel like one of the crowd. Once seated everything else is table service with the staff being attentive and helpful. We had a mix of seafood (they have a good choice) red meat, poultry and game - it was all excellent. It's not cutting edge flashy cuisine but it is quality, European influenced food prepared professionally and with high quality ingredients. I also thought it was reasonably priced; we each had three courses and shared a very good bottle of Bourgogne - for the four of us it came to £130 The place despite it's outer appearance is definitely more restaurant than pub, it's quite a large establishment with a fair bit of seating. If you’re looking for somewhere with a bit more flair then this place may not be for everyone, it's reasonably conservative and seems popular with the wrinkly brigade who seem to make up 75% of the clientele. Overall though, I’d have no hesitation returning to try some of the rest of their tasty menu – even if I do have to queue...
Read moreBeen here quite a few times over the years. It’s the kind of restaurant that I reserve for special events such as birthdays, anniversaries or special guests visiting. We went recently for lunch and it remains good. The food is excellent and the staff are all efficient friendly and the service was excellent. The general ambience is good. We sat in the conservatory extension as did many other guests. These days we invariably are accompanied by our 15 months old granddaughter and their approach to babies and young children is excellent. (This is not an accolade I can share about some of the other guests on our last visit) There is a good choice of beers etc. It’s not the best value in terms of actual food on the plate but they do create a good atmosphere surrounding your visit. A visit to their animals and their farm shop (which is NOT the usual inflated prices for farm shops) completes the visit nicely. I will go again and I certainly...
Read moreI attended Caesars with 6 colleagues for a celebration. I was expecting a great meal from a highly recommended restaurant. Unfortunately our experience did not match those expectations. We had allowed 2 hours for our outing. We arrived on time (12) to a restaurant that was quite quiet. Because we had time constraints we ordered quickly. And then we waited. We watched tables who had arrived after us receive their orders, we asked what was happening to our order and were told, we were next... But even then we weren't next. We asked again and highlighted our need to leave before 1400, another staff member repeated the 'your order is next', which was the case, but our outing was already ruined. We had to rush our food and didn't have time for dessert. There was no apology or an explanation. I don't think I will rushing back! Pity, apparently it used to be a...
