It’s amazing to have John & Joy back running the pub. The food is outstanding definitely restaurant quality with large portion sizes excellent value for money. We attended yesterday for a family meal celebrating my partner’s mother’s 80th birthday. We received such a warm welcome upon arrival especially as two of our family members have mobility issues. A friend and I have visited the Carpenters a considerable number of times in the past six months, and the experience is always the same. A very warm and friendly welcome from the landlord, an excellent selection of beers, and food to die for. As pub restaurants go I doubt if the Carpenters could be bettered anywhere, certainly not in Monmouthshire. This is a great pub with brilliant staff in a very friendly village, my party came into the village for a quiet stag party to enjoy ourselves.
