5 years on and the Farmers Arms have new owners. Same great location, and levels of hospitality. Sadly the local cafe where AstroCampers would get their breakfasts has closed down. The new owners have stepped up and opened up earlier to serve breakfast to the AstroCampers. April 2023 Superb food, a great selection of beers to choose from. Despite being a Liverpool supporter, the host, Chris is cheerful, friendly and has a great chef in his kitchen. The Lumpy Bumpy's when in season are superb! Closed on a Monday, so check before you travel.

Stopped by for a Sunday Lunch on 15th June on the way up to Rhayader. Absolutely delicious food, very quick service and very reasonable prices. Had the roast pork which came with dishes of what felt like unlimited veg (carrots, peas, broccoli, potatoes, red cabbage, parsnip, cauliflower cheese)… and the most delicious Oreo cheesecake after, all for about £16. Great selection of drinks, too. All the food is made locally and by the family. I will be thinking of that cheesecake for a long time…! Very friendly staff, will be back soon!

What a refreshing experience. This is a real homely classic pub. The food is amazing and surprisingly homemade. I opted for the steak and ale pie, this was densely and generously filled with meat and veg. The gravy was super rich and was delicious. Overall, the meal was worth every penny in my opinion and I will definitely be returning and urging others to do the same. Thank you for such a lovely meal!

As a family of three we had pre-booked a table for lunch at The Farmers Arms as we were due to be passing on our way to our holiday accommodation. On arrival we were met with a warm welcome by the staff. We didn't know beforehand that this is a family run pub, and what lovely people they are! We had seen from their website that they did Sunday roasts and this was one of the reasons why we booked a table there. We chose not to have starters because we weren't sure of the portion size of the main courses... and we were really pleased that we didn't have starters! Two of us had the roast lamb, and one had the roast pork, plus we opted for the Yorkshire puddings as extras. Our meals arrived along with side dishes of extra vegetables, including a superb cauliflower cheese, and all I can say is WOW... everything was so delicious and both the lamb and pork were cooked to perfection and so tender. It was honestly one of the best roast dinners we have had at a restaurant. Fortunately we had the opportunity to chat with the chef (the Dad of the family!) after eating and we complimented him on the wonderful food. He said that his wife prepared the homemade Yorkshire puddings and the cauliflower cheese. It was so different to a big carvery style Sunday roast where sometimes the vegetables can end up being somewhat overcooked. This was more like going to a friend's house and enjoying a truly wonderful homecooked Sunday roast meal, cooked with passion! Only one of us had room for dessert and ordered the cheesecake which was out of this world! We later found out that the chef's wife had created this delicious cheesecake, so again top marks for a truly fantastic and unique dish! We will recommend this pub to friends who will be holidaying in Wales, and we will definitely plan on eating there again when we are next in the area. Thank you so much for such a lovely meal, and keep up...

After a long hike we called in to try the menu. Having not eaten here for 16 years we were keen to try it out again. We were told initially we had to order within 5 mins as the kitchen was closing.|We appreciate it was nearly 3pm so not usual lunch time so fair enough.|When ordering I had to wait for the lady to go and find a calculator so she could work out what change to give me 🤦‍♀️|Ordered and the starters came out promptly.|My partner ordered whitebait. It was supposed to come with black pepper mayo which it was missing, there were 5 measly pieces of whitebait served on a tiny side plate! I know starters are smaller but crikey for £7.95 I expected a bit more or at least a slice of bread and butter. To top it off we were give 1 set of cutlery! As we were sitting outside we shared it to save going cold.|Mains came out, portions again not amazing considering the price but the taste was ok.|I called to the waitress as she left asking for salt, vinegar and condiments as she had failed to ask us if we wanted any. She turn to acknowledge my talking to her, walked off and never returned! If she hadn’t heard me, why turn?|We waited for her return until we risked it going stone cold so that unfortunately spoiled our experience. Who eats chips without salt and vinegar?!|It’s a real shame as the spot is lovely but the service was on this...
