The Griffin Inn LLandebr DCLL15 1UP Wales
Fabulous Hotel recently upgraded to a very high standard. They have friendly and super helpful staff. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. The hotel located in the most stunning countryside in North Wales. Our room was very comfortable and supplied with fluffy towels, plenty of toiletries, tea/coffee. Cookies etc. We had dinner 2 nights at the hotel and the food was fresh, well cooked and very tasty. Also, dinner was great value. Breakfast was also lovely and cooked to order. A family member is gluten free and her food choices were accommodated to suit her. Fabulous big beer garden with plenty of space for kids to run around. There is a very spacious bar with a huge selection of beers and a lovely log fire for chillier evenings. Its very welcoming. Highly recommend The Griffin for dinner if you are local or indeed taking a trip to this stunning part of the world. I think the people of North Wales have kept this jewel a hidden secret! Lovely little quaint town Ruthin is 2 miles away and has charming shops and cafes. We also visited Llangollen which was about 30 mins away from Ruthin. Llangollen is a stunning riverside town with a steam train and canal, lovely shops and restaurants, Very touristy and very busy despite it being Mid October. The Griffin Inn is the perfect base for exploring the area and we...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIād just been up Moel Famau with my dog. It was a lovely and sunny, warm spring day. I entered the Griffin Inn and the temperature suddenly plummeted... this was due to the frosty reception. I ordered a pint of cask ale and was served it with a two inch head on it. The bar maid was very perturbed that I had the nerve to ask her to top it up, and scowled as she did so!..... āHow dare I!ā..
I then ordered a continental meat sharing platter for Ā£12. I was then served three slices of prosciutto that was tainted by āunidentifiable fridge flavoursā. I suspect it had been left unwrapped in the fridge. This was accompanied by three tiny ramekins. The first one contained seven, small, cheap black olives from a jar. The second contained balsamic vinegar and oil. The third, a few sundried tomatoes. To pad out this peevish offering, it came with several tiny slices of ciabatta!.. and yes... youāve guessed it... they were stale!
Iām guessing that as usual with google reviews most have been left by friends and family.
Personally, I havenāt felt so āripped offā in quite some time! The staff also seem to have a love of the word canāt!.... and .....āDonātā signs, adorn the place!
My recommendation for the Griffin Inn is..... ādrive...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have written quite a few reviews on TA over the years, and its always interesting to read those from others before I put fingers to the keyboard so to speak. Well all I can say is that I am well travelled and have stayed in a wide range of accommodation and The Griffin Inn ticked all the boxes relative to cost versus quality and value for money. ||I stayed two nights and the room, as per the bar and restaurant areas, have been tastefully renovated to a good standard. The room had its own temperature control for the heating, a very nice shower room with large walk in shower and heated towel rail. The bed was comfortable, a large TV, well stocked coffee and tea making facility and canned spring water restocked each day. Although you can hear a bit of occasional passing traffic, it was not an issue for me. ||The breakfast as were the two evening meals, really enjoyable and well cooked. The prices for the meals were also very reasonable in my opinion. The staff were friendly and the service attentive. ||I donāt often give full marks but the two days at the The Griffin were really good and I could not fault the stay. I would not hesitate to recommend to...
