We called in for a drink in the daytime in the beautiful sunny beer garden. We where staying about 20minutes away for a couple of days. We decided to book a table for 2 for food that evening. When ee arrived we where greeted and showed to our reserved table. We grabbed a couple of drinks from the bar and ordered our food. The menu was varied and we also noticed the drinks were not expensive at all. I ordered the steak and ale pie with chips, peas and gravy. It was ok, typical pub food really. Pie had plenty of meat but lacked seasoning to be honest. Chips where nice and fluffy inside, peas and gravy just fine 👍. For dessert we both opted for strawberry Eaton mess cake. It was well presented and tasted great but the portion size was very small. The amount of cream would of submerged the cake if I used it all. Double the size of the slices!!! All in all good value for money, 2 mains, 2 desserts, 2 gins and 1 pint Madri £52. Will return in future due to the value factor and staff where great 👍

The family went here for our last day of holiday meal, having driven past multiple times and saying it looks nice. I'm glad we did. The Hunter's Chicken I had was quite possibly the best I've ever had, anywhere. It was fantastic. The wife had a wonderful pork belly on mustard mash which had fantastic presentation (pictured - I'm told it was delicious) whilst the kids enjoyed a curry and gammon and eggs. I'd definitely return. The terrace was covered, so we were shaded on a hot day, although there is open air seating (or indoor) if desired. The staff were lovely, down to earth but professional. The hotel is very tastefully decorated and the free WiFi was welcomed by the youngest, who was missing YouTube; if I had to find any fault, I'd say that there may not be enough parking when busy, but even that wasn't a problem for us tonight.

We visit the area a couple of times a year and having never had Sunday lunch at Hafon Arto we thought we would book and give it a try. We are so glad we did as it is quite possibly the best Sunday lunch we have had out. We are both vegetarian and the nut roast did not disappoint, beautifully presented and all the trimmings were great too. I am quite critical when eating out but I could not find fault with our meal at all. Even had dessert which I normally don't bother with, the brownie was lovely and my partner enjoyed his pancakes. The staff were friendly and attentive, from ordering to checking all was ok throughout our meal. We had booked a table inside but the sun made an appearance so we were able to enjoy the outside area. Dog friendly too. 10/10 from us and will visit again soon.

We went to this pub whilst staying in the lodges over the road as there was a menu in the property and the aesthetically pleasing front of the restaurant and beer garden made us think it was a pretty special place.||However when we were shown to our table, we were put in a very small breakfast room (cereals etc all still on show) and a very shabby table with a brown stain. Just put the breakfast stuff away and put out napkins, salt, pepper etc for evening guests, make us feel valued. We read online children could have colouring materials so didn't bring anything expecting them to prefer these options. Instead we found very shabby books all coloured up and pens and pencils which didn't work. I would suggest commiting to it, or stop advertising it.||When the food came, we were extremely disappointed for the cost of the meal vs what we were served. We spent £80 on two starters, two mains and two children's meal and drinks. The starters were OK, but the ravioli tasted like a crab sandwich paste and really needs a sauce. ||The pork belly main was odd, I ordered it not sure what to expect but tepid veg in a sweet and sour sauce with a pretty tasteless pork belly on top was disappointing for the cost. The seabass was OK, but the greens were overcooked , cold and dry and safe to say my wife didnt eat them. The asparagus looked like an overcooked green bean it was that bad. Again, a simple sauce or garlic butter sauce would not go a miss.||I was most disappointed with the children's meals....£6.95 each and they looked like ready meals which were really cold. The pizza was a knock off frozen microwave chicago town pizza with chips and beans. It would be cheaper to make fresh pizza and throw ham and cheese on it and kids would be much happier.||Overall, we did not want to stay for dessert. Hospitality is all about length of stay, and we had one drink each and left. We were done spending money on low quality food.||I would say the meal we got, the cost was ridiculous. Two of our party mentioned it was like something on kitchen nightmares. I wouldn't recommend this place and will pass the feedback to our AirBnB host who...

I saw the restaurant on my way back from the slate mines. This was my third visit to Barmouth since purchasing my holiday home here.

Initially, it was a good impression, a friendly, cosy environment.

The food was reasonable and well presented; however, the burger was not cooked and was spooned in a salad. I discussed this with Waitrose, who was polite and accommodating. The general manager was again polite and respectful. However, as a customer, I was not happy with the meal. The chief blonde-haired lady was confrontational, unprepared to listen to what was rude, aggressive, and abrupt, and she spoilt the rest of our meal and evening.

I think some customer-facing skills training is needed as your staff knows how to treat customers better than you do.

It is a real shame for a pleasant venue in a lovely spot

26/08 - further to your response

The food was brought back to the opening from the bar to the restaurant so not to cause a fuss or seen in respect to the team. Who were already dealing with a busy bar and 2 drunk customers sat in the bar !The spoon was not in the coleslaw but on the side of the plate yet every other burger that came out came with the spoon in said coleslaw.

The second time I came your manager was dealing with the complaint - read the review as I Complimented how well your staff dealt with the complaint! Clearly said blonde person head chief or owner alike did not like open and honest feedback about our visit, I never raised my voice Yet you did and a response To your aggressive and frankly sharp character.

Your team offered 50 % refund you came and interfered and refused. I did not demand anything. your an embarrassment to the establishment and a poor example to the team around you.

If you can't stand the heat then get out of the kitchen this was an honest review regarding our experience thank you for the response its enables other people to see how defensive and aggressive tou are rather than a sensible thanks and we will do better next time. Hilarious though will...
