Lovely small pub near Abergavenny. We drove up a fairly steep road coming off the dual carriageway, and the pub is fairly obvious on the old miners road.

The staff were very helpful and pleasant. We were a large table but it looked like staff were happy to accommodate us whilst still making sure all the other patrons were being served.

The pork belly was possibly the largest cut of pork belly I’ve ever seen! And it was cooked fantastically! The burgers were great, but I have no idea how big your mouth would need to be to eat them without cutting them up, they were big! The chilli was super tasty and a large portion for the price.

We can’t fault them. The food came out in 3 batches, but this seems reasonable give we were a large group and the pub wasn’t large. It’s better to get the food whilst it’s hot and fresh than have it waiting!

The food was wonderful all round and there was a good selection of beers and other alcoholic drinks.

We’ll definitely be...

Absolutely stunning food !!! Popped in tonight to treat my other half for a birthday meal and WOW !!! what can I say ,walked into a packed friendly environment (bar side) and was shown hospitality unlike no other ! Absolute diamond of a barman (who showed us to the dining area ) and was served utter joy in what can only be described as THEE best meal ever had in this part of the valleys !!! I am now converted to steak (partner had it and I had a taste) and it blew my mind ! I had the curry main ,can only say it was to die for 😋..the starters were fantastic and you cannot help but love the charm of the place and the utter dedication the chef has to customer satisfaction ...truely plates of perfection ... Fabulous visit ,our thanks to each and every member of staff for making it one of the most incredible ,friendly ,warming and satisfying dining experiences to date ,already we are planning a return on a regular basis ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ +...

I came last year and it was the best roast dinner I’ve ever had literally !! We was amazed everything was so tasty and perfect and the gravy was stunning! We went there today the service was excellent as usual, the homemade cabbage was to die for so tasty, homemade Yorkshire and peas and veg and beef were so fresh 😍 the only downside to my disappointment and I hate saying this but the roasties were that hard I couldn’t get a knife in them to cut them and my fav part is the roasties 😭 It was like they had been cooked ages ago and dried out too much and reheated too much maybe ? i should of said to the restaurant owners really but it was my bday and I don’t like making a fuss as it probably was a one off but Jolly Colliers when you read this, please check roasties before serving.. I will be back as the dinner is still super banging...

Excellent pub that's more like a restaurant inside as food seems to be the main priority. It was tapas night when we visited and the food was delicious. There's also a decent drinks selection with good wine by the glass. There's an extensive selection of bottled and keg beers but only one cask ale available but it was a very well kept Butty Bach. There's no car park but plenty of on-street parking nearby. 2024 update. Very happy to see that little has changed since they reopened following a fire. The Butty Bach has even gone down from £3.90 to £3.80 in the 11 months since our last visit! There can't be many pubs in the UK where that has happened!

Family of 6 plus newborn baby and two dogs - went on a Friday night about 8pm. We sat in the garden which was lovely. Very welcoming and chatty locals and nice atmosphere with everyone singing to the juke box. Food was exceptional. Very nice menu with a good variety to choose from and you can tell a lot of love went into the food. We had the steak, gammon, pork belly and prawn pasta and all were delicious. Staff were also very friendly and welcoming - 5 stars!!

We moved to the area just under 3 months ago and have visited on multiple occasions. We had a great Sunday roast. We came back for a Saturday lunch with a big group and every meal was cooked on time and perfectly. We had dishes ranging from the tapas menu to burgers and the belly pork and every dish was delicious. Cocktails are amazing. We are heading back with family for another lovely meal this Saturday ☺️ Highly recommend paying a visit if you are near!
