Late decision to have Sunday lunch out meant a frantic ring-round only to find everywhere I called was booked until 3pm.  As a last ditch attempt to find somewhere I called the Machyns Golf Club and (after a couple of attempts which went unanswered) managed to get a table for 2 for 2pm. So far so good. We had been to the Club for a sandwich and glass of wine previously but had not tried the revamped Frederick's Brasserie. Arrived on time and found it busy but not crowded out.  The waitress, Sarah (?) apologised in advance for any delay in service we may encounter as she was working the whole restaurant area on her own. Pre dinner drinks were served quickly and food orders taken. First course arrived in good time and was excellent (prawn cocktail and chicken goujon's) Main course did take a few minutes longer that might have been expected but was certainly well worth the wait.  We both had the roast silverside of beef which was cooked perfectly and was accompanied by a selection of vegetables. It was the usual shall we / shan't we tussle over a pudding so we opted to share a creme brulee...I wish I had had my own!  It was super! Overall I can honestly say it was THE BEST Sunday lunch we have had since moving to the area 5 years ago. Other pubs and restaurants who live off long standing reputations should be concerned.   If Frederick's maintain or indeed improve on their current standard - and with chef Abhilash Kumar in charge I see no reason why they shouldn't - this place will go from strength to strength. It is amazing that staffing is such a problem throughout the hospitality industry at present.  I understand this is one aspect that Frederick's are constantly looking to resolve.  It is a disgrace that so many (young) people are looking for jobs but just can't be bothered to make an effort to get employed. MARKS: Venue:   9/10 Ambience:  8/10 Service:  9/10 (special mention for Sarah who was so well organised despite the pressure) Food:  9.5 /10  (nobody is perfect...) Would I return?:  Without any hesitation Do I recommend?:  Most certainly

A minus 5 star would actually better reflect the reality. They claim that this is called luxury pedicure service. I came out of machynis pedicure treatment 20 minutes ago and look at my feet! They were just as dirty as they were when I came in. How can you eve call a service "pedicure" if you dont even touch the bottom of the feet? eve the cream was applied only on the top part of my foot. I've never in my entire life had a worse pedicure done. I mean my husband does a 10X better job. Does this lady even have certification? Wasted my time, wasted my money, not only 45 pound for the service, but also that money that I could have been making during that time, as well as time and money that I need now to actually go somewhere decent and fix this ridiculous job. I call this a fraud and a blatant lie (not only it is miles away from luxury, it is miles away from just a regular normal service) what is done here under the beautiful words that hold 0 meaning. Never ever coming again. Wouldnt recommend to anyone.

Myself, my mother in law and sister in law came here for a spa day. We had a really lovely time, the lady who did my massage was amazing - she was extremely firm and gave me good advice. We had a meal included in our vouchers, which was really nice and had a great view of the peninsula accross the green. The hydropool area, steam room, sauna etc were great - a little busy but to be expected on a Friday! My only qualm, hence 4 star, is I must have phoned around 15 times to actually book the day. I ended up getting through to the bar, who had to go down to the spa reception and ask them to call me back. Otherwise, really nice day for us. We loved it, we also had 50% off vouchers to return which I'll definitely use!

Myself and 7 friends had booked to play golf here and have been looking forward to this for such a long time as it is a course we had been aware of but as its a 4 hour drive for us to play we made it a weekend trip to South Wales. We had been booked in to play Friday the 14th July. As most people will be aware the weather across the UK was not great. At our tee time off 13.27 the course was simply not playable. There was very few golfers around as the weather was horrendous with sheeting down rain and strong winds. We was advised that by about 4pm the main weather would pass but not given the option to wait until then until the harsh rains had passed through, the wind we are not bothered about. So we had to try our luck. Literally after the first hole, and I'm not one to exaggerate everything was drenched. Our feet where soaked, even though we all had waterproofs on the rain was coming through, our clubs our bags just absolutely soaked. We had looked so forward to this so we pressed on and managed 6 holes before we all had to give in, along with whoever else was out there not just us but everyone else out there had to come in. Now you can not hold the club at fault obviously about the weather but its how they deal with you after that is important and how it leaves your impression of the club. So we all came in from the course, and at the same time as another group of chaps who had also had to come in. We was all absolutely drenched, we asked at reception for some towels as different members of our group did, and the other chaps as we was discussing this in the changing rooms after, and had all been given different responses. I was advised that they had no towels at all and had completely run out , I did ask that was strange especially at a golf and spa country club, another member of our group who came in a few minutes after me was advised they are all in the dryer and not available at the moment, and chap in the locker room told us he was at first asked to pay £10.00 but then a couple of minutes later told sorry no towels. We all found this very strange due to the type of establishment this was. There was a wet kit bag dispenser in the men's dressing room, which was empty. On asking the reception if this could be replenished so we can put our wet clothes in we were just handed a few bags between us all. The customer service was terrible, and made to feel like we was putting them out and disturbing them. They were all girls and very young, so maybe experience in customer service was a factor I'm not sure, but for a venue that advertises itself as it does you do expect much better customer services. We would have thought due to the weather we may have been offered to let the weather pass and tee of later. The staff at the pro shop saw us come in absolutely soaked and didn't say a word. The club house is lovely and the lounge area upstairs was nice and relaxing a nice environment. Again no one can control the weather but its how you deal with your customers in these circumstances, and it fell way short of what you would expect from a premium golf venue. Very disappointed overall as we had been looking forward so long to playing this course. Weather horrendous, customer service not...

Absolutely disgusted at the service provided, and even more disgusted with how they've handled things afterwards. Booked a wake for 75 people at £16.95 per person for Friday, visited, gave lots of details for requests, food preferences & how we wanted the room to look. We were assured that it would be fancy and the food would be plentiful (my mother in law was a big fan of afternoon tea and we wanted to celebrate her life with the best food we could, my father in law specificed he wanted there to be plenty of food which we were assured there would be and that usually people were taking home extra in tupperwear).

On the day, we arrived and the room wasn't set up as discussed (black table clothes when we requested white) and there was nothing set up in the room to suggest there would be food. Queue people frantically bringing in what they could. When the food started arriving we were shocked with what arrived. Undercooked sausage rolls (the pasty hadn't even puffed up), chicken pieces & some sandwiches, 2 cake options. Even worse than this was the only vegetarian food was cheese and pickle & egg sandwiches (20% of attendees were vegetarian) which were gone instantly leaving some vegetarians without any food. Then despite being told that there were 2 vegans one of which was gluten free there was no vegan food and no gluten free food (when booking they said this wasnt a problem and they would make extra so that others could have some too). Someone else asked about the vegan and vegetarian food to be told it was coming, followed by a young girl then coming to speak to me about the vegan and gluten free food as they were sending someone out to buy food as they didn't have any. The food that arrived was abysmal, and the amount of food provided was not enough for 75 people, only 50 came along to the actual wake and sandwiches quickly ran out with no more coming.

We spoke to a gentleman about the disappointing situation who was very understanding and offered us his sincere apologies and took note of the feedback we gave to pass onto his manager along with my contact details. He told us the booking form hadn't been filled out and put where it normally should be, and they didn't know about us, how many people or any dietary requirements. He assured us his manager was working that evening (she was late to her shift) and would speek to us about it and a partial refund. It's Tuesday and I've still not heard anything from her, and every time I call no one answers the phone. Still no resolution, and it seems that they saw no issue with the service they provided as they have...

Went on a spa day today for my friends 30th birthday, booked the stress recovery day costing £116, had discount so paid £103, they couldn't do our 2 hr treatments in one sitting so we had 2x 1hr treatments, on arrival the lady was Lovely give us forms to fill in and told us to go up stairs to have a complementary, tea coffee juice, went back downstairs, to find another receptionist, handed her the forms, and give £10 for the deposit for the dressing gown slippers etc, the receptionist then says have you got £1 for the lockers to which I replied yes, so she said an old £1 coin!! Umm they haven't been legal tender for a few months so why would I have one in my purse!! So I handed over a new £1 to be given a token, enjoyed the spa etc then we went to have our 1st hrs treatments, my friend was called at 2.30pm, I was called at 2.38pm , the lady doing my treatment seemed very disinterested, then said ok that's the end of your treatment, I walked out expecting to find my friend waiting for me, only to look at my phone to find it was 3.27pm my friend was still in having her treatment so that's 10 mins off my treatment, so we used the spa again etc and at 5.17pm we were called in to have our 2nd hr treatment, made a point of looking at my phone it was 5.17pm, i was having a full body massage, I wasn't asked how I wanted it,all I can say is that I thought a German shot putter was giving me a massage it was so rough and hard!! A massage should leave you feeling revived, but I felt nothing but pain!! During the massage I was clearly tensing up as t was hurting so much and my crys of pain weren't heard!! I was then told my treatment had ended I looked at my phone as I was leaving the treatment room to find it was 6.07pm another 10 mins off my treatment!! So I paid £103, for 2 hr treatment and I had 1hr n 40 mins!! I waited for my friend who came out about 6.20 pm, we went to go and get ready for our evening meal up in the restaurant, I took off my robe and my friend was horrified my back was red raw (this was approx 20/25 mins after my treatment) and one part of my shoulder was swollen!! I reported it to a member of staff who was Lovely and said a manager would ring me!! I told the girl doing my treatment I was awaiting a neck operation!! It's now 10.50pm and I am in agony!! On a plus side the meal in the restaurant was Lovely so...
