Since we were staying in LLanelltyd for a week, and due to be joined by 4 other people, we were looking forward to trying this local eatery.

Unfortunately this place hasn’t moved on since the 1950’s (when children and sometimes women were banned from pubs and restaurants).

We were turned away because we are on holiday with our 16 month old son, and told ‘no under 5s are allowed’. Anyone who has ever had children knows how hard it can be especially for parents with young kids. You go on holiday wanting to spend some quality leisure time with the people nearest to you, only to find that your family members are discriminated against because of their age.

I find discrimination of all kinds abhorrent, but this kind of discrimination hurts young families the most, some of the people who need our support, and for life to be made easier for them, not to endure the stress and upset of being refused to be served due to age discrimination.

Do yourself ( and everyone else) a favour and avoid this place, there are plenty of other great places to eat which are friendly to all humans, not just...

We where a big party of 8 adults 5 kids, as such they request our pizza orders in advance witch we did not mind doing. I have given it 3 stars for a few reasons my biggest gipe is the fact that they do not cut the pizza for you, so you need to do it but that is easy said than done when the pizza dose not fit on the plate, the other thing is they do not have pizza cutters? Why this is i do not not know so you end up using a knife and fork and as advise be for the plate is not big enough.

The price of the drinks is to high for my liking with the price of the food i feel they are being a bit gready when it comes to the drinks.

The staff service was good on the hole. Areas where i feel the could improve would be to get rid of the plast and go with serving the pizza on wooden bords or give that there is lots of slate mines around here they could serve the pizza on flat pices of slate. And if they do not want to cut the pizza then at least have a pizza cutters available for people who would rather cut it with them.

On the hole i would not recommend this place to...

Absolutely fantastic experience from the moment we stepped through the door! Nice lounge area while you wait for food, where you can enjoy drinks and nibbles. There are fine views over the Mawddach estuary which are maximised by the fact all tables are upstairs, and the waiting area is downstairs. The parking area is a bit shabby, so don't be put off by parking there! Two tables in particular command views through the full length picture windows- it's worth seeing whether you can reserve one of these when you book. The menu is small but very interesting, reflecting the fact that there are only about 10 tables upstairs. There is a seperate children's menu available offering freshly prepared versions of kids' staples such penne pasta and bangers and mash. There is a high quality wine list much of which is available by the glass and the whole experience was a relaxed, unhurried feeling of being well looked after in comfortable and attractive surroundings. I am still dreaming...

Having a family home in Dolgellau, we’ve visited the Mawddach quite a few times now. Every time we go, we seem to forget to write a review… but we’ve finally gotten around to it! Last weekend we went for a Sunday lunch for my boyfriend’s birthday and yet again, we had an excellent meal. The Sunday roast was exceptional and for the quality, very reasonably priced. We both ordered the beef for our main which was cooked to perfection and followed that with the chocolate mousse dessert which was particularly good, especially topped with the honeycomb. We have normally visited on Saturday evenings where the main menu is slightly different so were very pleased to see the selection for both days is just as good. By having a smaller menu, with quite simple sounding meals, the chefs are able to cook genuinely delicious dishes. The service is always brilliant, the view is incredible and we will continue to visit the Mawddach during our holidays to Dolgellau.

Pizza with a view! Absolutely loved this place, and after visiting a campsite round the corner, around 6 times since last year I can not belive I haven't been before! Wr visited at 5.15pm, after calling at 4pm to ask if they had a table. I was told we would be seated downstairs rather than upstairs where the view was apparently a lot better, this didn't bother me as I had read the reviews and just wanted to try. After receiving our drinks and a small starter a lovely gentleman came over and explained he now has a table free upstairs if we would like to move, without hesitation we set off to the BEAUTIFUL seating area on the 1st floor. The views were insane, pizza was thr best I have ever eaten before and we all thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, the staff are all so helpful and friendly we couldn't have asked for more. Can not wait to return!! Highly reccomend!

We loved Mawddach, great views, superb Neapolitan pizza, friendly staff, and great atmosphere. Highly recommend. We had the Margherita and Y Cymro pizzas both were stony, fresh-baked slices of heaven, especially the Y Cymro. We started with the Aubergine and Gorgonzola (drizzled with honey), I don't even like Aubergine and thought it was fantastic. We also had a side of the bean salad with red onion and parmesan. The food was fresh and positively delightful. We sat on the second floor, right next to the large window looking out into the Mawddach Valley, spectacular view. There is also seating outside. The staff (including the owner) were very pleasant. Our little one got to enjoy her milk from a Frozen cup, that's really nice.
