What a great find! Have tried few Indians in this area and this one is firmly on top of our list! Yummy! Have driven past this restaurant many times and it looks so big outside and I always thought it might be looking too big and grand for this area and was afraid that I will be disappointed, but how wrong was I! Entering the building and there is a lovely Tuk Tuk greeting you, nice touch. Waiter was really good and explained the menu and how to order very clearly, which made ordering very easy. Poppadoms and dips were very nice, but £6.40 for 2 of them with sauces seemed a steep in price. Had lamb stew and chicken shashlik for a main, and have to say both were amazing! Best I had for a long time. Aubergine side was also fantastic! We will definitely be coming back, highly recommended!

Fantastic indian restaurant, we are very big Indian fans, one a week atleast, first time here and was greeted with a very friendly and professional man to seat us at our table, this place is big and so you do not in anyway feel like your in a tin of sardines, the attention to detail in all the decor is very eye catching, everywhere you look there's a nice work of art on the walls and different lighting witch adds character and charm to this place, the menu could do with some chefs special dishes but there's is plenty to choose from, I had the chicken madras with mushroom rice and pshwari nann and masala chips, my outher half had the lamb desi and both of these meals we're unreal, full of flavour and spice , will be going back soon with family and friends, 👍👍👌

I love taking the family to the Rasoi in Pontlliw. The floor manager and his staff are always attentive and on hand to deal with any food & drink queries. Nothing is too much trouble. The starters, mains and desserts are all beautiful. Trust me I've eaten my way through the menu over the last 18 months. I haven't really got a favourite dish as they are all tasty and full of flavour. If, like me and the family, you're a fan of Indian cuisine, with a modern twist, you will love the Rasoi. I / We do, and we can't wait to visit and eat there again, and again, and again. Sadly I don't have any photos of the food as it was devoured before I thought of taking a picture. So, here's us looking excited after placing a food order.

I booked a table for my wife and I for 5pm on Sunday as I had seen on the website that there was a set meal deal between Sunday and Thursday. When we arrived we were sat near the bar and open kitchen. Drinks orders were taken and I asked the girl who took the order if the set menu was available as on the menu it says that it is served Monday to Thursday, even though on a flyer on the table and on the website it says Sunday to Thursday. She said that she’d have to check and then came back saying, sorry it was on earlier today. I then said well, it says here on the flyer that it is a set ‘dinner’ menu as in evening meal and says nothing about it being for lunch time only. She went away and came back saying yeah it’s ok, it is available. We then ordered our meals. I had ordered a chicken tikka starter, chicken tikka masala and pilau rice. My wife ordered onion bhajee starter and chicken byriani. She was asked what side she wanted and said that she didn’t want a side. It was an option of naan bread or rice. She said to the waiter that she didn’t eat bread and that she didn’t need rice as the dish is a rice based dish. He didn’t really understand this and kept asking if she wanted rice, obviously not having an understanding of the menu. The chutney tray and poppadum’s were nice. The starters then came out; 2 x plates of onion bhajee’s! I had ordered chicken tikka starter and my wife ordered onion bhajee. At this point I couldn’t even be bothered to complain as we’d already had trouble explaining about not wanting a side with my wife’s meal. We then had the main meals. To be honest I’ve had better food from an Indian takeaway. The food on the whole was underwhelming. Throughout the evening the female waitress was walking around the restaurant aimlessly with no real purpose and no work ethic and it was obvious that she didn’t want to be there. The waiting staff are under trained, lack knowledge of the menu and are lacking in any hospitality/customer facing skills. When it came to the bill, one of the set meals had not been billed as a set meal (probably because of the lack of one side course) and I then had to ask for it to be rectified. Around 10/15 minutes later after being told it would be rectified and no one returning to the table, we decided to go up to the bar ourselves where the bar waiter admitted that he had forgotten to get the bill sorted and to pay so that we could leave this awful experience behind us. He then went to say that the bill was correct as the dish my wife had, the byriani was not on the set menu! I told him to fetch a menu where I would point out to him that it was. A manager then took over and finally corrected it and took payment. Never again will I set foot in this restaurant or their sister restaurant in SA1 and I suggest that you also stay clear....

We've been loyal customers for some time, always enjoying our meals and the typically excellent service. However, our recent visit was a significant letdown and has left us reconsidering our future visits.

We had a reservation for four at 7 PM, booked well in advance, but upon arrival, our table was not ready. We waited for 15 minutes before being seated, which was just the beginning of a series of delays. Once seated, it took another 15 minutes for someone to take our drinks order, and an additional 10 minutes for the drinks to arrive. Despite placing our order promptly, we were left waiting over an hour and a half with no food.

The confusion reached a peak when, after an hour and a half of waiting, we were told that our starters had already been served—a clear miscommunication since we had received nothing. We made it clear that we would only wait an additional 10 minutes before leaving. Unfortunately, after another 15 minutes passed without any food, we decided to leave. As we were preparing to pay for our drinks and leave, two starters were finally brought to our table. By then, it was too late, and we declined the dishes.

Adding to the discomfort, there was a large group of men nearby who were loud, rude, and using inappropriate language. While we understand that controlling other customers behaviour isn't easy, it would have been appropriate for the staff to address the situation and ensure a pleasant dining environment for all guests.

This experience was far below the standard we've come to expect. The excessive wait times, poor communication, and lack of a pleasant atmosphere were disappointing, especially given our positive experiences in the past. Sadly, this visit has soured our perception of the restaurant, and we're hesitant to return.

We hope that this feedback is taken seriously and that improvements are made to prevent other customers from having a similarly...

Visited Rasoi as a special anniversary date night. I have never been before and really didn't know what to expect. We we're greeted and taken to our table upon entrance, so everything seemed to be good. The decor is polished and clean throughout. I believe the owner took our drinks order. We had a bottle of prosecco and a jug of water. Ordering the food with the young man was quick and easy. The food was good, I had a chicken bhuna curry and it was mildly spicy.

But here is where the problem lies, after finishing the main course it took 15mins to clear our plates. As I have a bit of OCD, once finished eating I always put the knife & fork together on the plate and move the plates to the end of the table. I'm sure any service staff would know the table needs to be cleared from that. So the plates finally get taken away and nobody returned. No offer for more drinks or the dessert menu?! Why? After 10mins of waiting, I called a young male staff member over to ask for a dessert menu. He gave us one and then didn't return. I then called a young female staff member over and asked if we could order dessert. She sighed and abruptly answered, "Wha dya wan en?" (Read how its spelt and you might understand). I couldn't understand what she was saying at first, so I asked her to repeat it. Then I knew. With a disgruntled smerk on her face that 100% showed she didn't want to be there, she left and finally after a further 10mins our desserts were brought out.

Overall, I feel bad for the restaurant and it's owner. If the few service staff were better, it would've been an...
