Refreshment Rooms — Restaurant in Wales

The first thing that strikes you is how authentic the building remains. The old platform is easily recognised, with some cast markers still attached to the walls. Inside it's easy to imagine the ticket office or station masters office. The walls have large 'photos of the original station, as it was many years ago. The restaurant area is modern and leads out to a covered outdoor area and beer garden, which must be great on hotter days. The menu is varied, plenty of choice for most people's preferences. I chose the battered cod, which was very clearly freshly prepared. The fish was very moist and white, very tasty (I prefer Haddock), the coating was not like traditional crispy batter, it was certainly nicely cooked, very light and a texture that was somewhat similar to a very light pastry, not what I was expecting, but was very enjoyable nonetheless. Chips can often be either a huge disappointment, or the perfect compliment to battered fish, it was definitely the latter. Nicely presented, crispy and a light brown appearance and very tasty. The prices are a little more than some pubs, but if you consider where you are, the excellent surroundings, the quality of the food and not to forget the exceptionally pleasant and efficient staff (every one of them deserves praise), you actually get...

Booked valentines meal expecting a nice meal with my partner only to be told when we got there that the Valentines meal was actually the day after Valentine’s Day which makes no sense at all then the gobby bar man said he remembers taking my booking and that he told me it was on Tuesday which was an absolute lie why would anyone of continued with the booking if it wasn’t on Valentine’s Day might aswell book Christmas meal for next week.
