A group of 13 of us booked a meal at Rhos-on-sea Golf Club on Saturday July 21 having looked at the impressive menu on the website. When we arrived we discovered that the normal menu wasn't available and there were just 4 choices - chicken dinner, fish and chips, ham salad and sandwiches. When I asked the 'chef' (a bloke walking around the bar wearing an apron) about the gluten free options he replied, dismissively, that there was a ham salad. He was heard to say "don't moan" when I expressed disappointment. There was also no vegetarian option. We only decided to stay because we'd bought drinks and were hungry. We were shown into the newly refurbished yet somehow characterless and shabby dining room where some of the cutlery was found to be dirty. When the food arrived some of the 'fresh, home cooked' food appeared to be frozen as it was too uniform to be fresh. The food was, generally, quite bland and very disappointing. Later that evening I started to show some of the signs of gluten ingestion (extreme fatigue, headache, stomach pains) which continued overnight and into Sunday when I also had other symptoms. I discovered from one of my friends that the waitress stated that 'someone had upset the chef' - could it have been me moaning about the lack of choice? Visiting this restaurant was probably one of the worst decisions we have made and would urge others to think twice about eating here. There are plenty of other restaurants in the area and I'm sure they would provide a better service. The rudeness of the 'chef', lack of choice, lack of cleanliness and the possibility of gluten contamination of the food leads me to award Rhos on Sea Golf Club a score of...
Read moreApproaching the hotel I was delighted with my choice for my wife's birthday surprise.we got to the reception and was greeted by a very nice lady who was very helpful.|Then things started to go wrong.|The room was clean but then see the bathroom which was only good for children under 5 foot.i would say ideal for people who are wheelchair bound but th access would have been challenging to get to it..the shower I could not get under and I'm 5ft7.the sink was so low down it hurt my back.the pressure of the shower was very poor.||When accessing Internet,there was none,when asking about this was told ait till people leave the signal might get stronger,it didn't..|I was in room 22 .I'm not sure what was next door but every so often a machine turned making sleep challenging.once I eventually got to sleep I was awoken by the 6am tenby express as the train line is about 100metres away.|As I said I was very disappointed.it looked nothing like the pictures.and I know my wife was too but to her credit was very gracious.|Would not recommend this hotel as your only going to be disappointed.
