I am local to the area and this has come under new ownership in the last year. This was my first visit since....the last place really was dingy, depressing and dated. I had read some great reviews recently on s/media so came to see what all the hype was about. I reserved judgement and would have been content with possibly an average bar meal today but, in a rare occurence I have felt compelled to reopen my account that I couldnt find the password for and struggled to open just to write a review on here. The decor is modern, spacious, welcoming and homely opening up to a great atmosphere, the menu was just enough of a great selection without being over indulgent or pretentious and is accommodating to veggies, vegans and carnivores. Our waitress was gorgeously friendly with nothing being too much trouble while whizzing around offering excellent table service. I had the lamb which was cooked perfectly, the presentation on my plate was great, a perfect mixture of flavours and textures with a wonderful blend of herbs with just the right amount for us to order a dessert. The prices are extremely reasonable, and in all honestly, i would have paid more for what I had as it was hugely apparent whoever had cooked my meal places huge amounts of pride and thought into what is on the menu and its delivery. A wonderful selection of drinks. I can honestly say on the whole that this place is a diamond and i feel totally blessed to have it on my doorstep. The only place i've ever been local to here to even begin to rival this place is Wrights food emporium, Y Polyn or a lovely little boutique restaurant called the Warren but none are so reasonably priced as this and this has an outside area even though now is not the time to use it. The whole presented picture in this place is really caring about you as a customer and the experience that you have and mine was fabulous. Couldn't recommend more, I loved it and thank you to the people at the ships wheel!! I will defintely be visiting again...

Overall this place was... fine.

We mostly went for the food - which was okay. We went on what appeared to be a very busy day. We ordered at 6pm. We were told half hour wait on food but didn't get served until just after 7pm. We mentioned that some of the chips were missing and were told it was just coming. 35 minutes later, when everyone had finished eating, I had to go back inside to find out where the chips were - when they were handed to me immediately.

The food was mostly okay and tasty enough but very small portion sizes for the cost.

The waiting service was poor, sadly. Though I did feel sorry for the waitress as she seemed stressed and not that happy.

The bar did seem to also be running out of non alcoholic options. No non alcoholic cider which we were told they usually have, and they ran out of J2O too but that's fine - just a bit disappointing for the designated driver!

Overall, I imagine on a quiet day, it's a fairly nice place. But our experience was that the service really let this establishment down, especially given that restaurant prices are being charged for fairly...

Had a booking for Sunday lunch at 12.30 celebrating 45th wedding anniversary arrived a few minutes early we were seated and gave our drinks order when she brought the drinks she took our food order. The next table got their food it did look good, some time later the table opposite sat down six of them, the next table finished their meal and were cleared away. Table opposite gave their food order we were still waiting for our starters, asked at the bar how long would they be was told not long, by now it had gone 1pm server came and said they were having trouble in the kitchen and asked what we had ordered. At 1.10 the table opposite got their starters the same starters that we had ordered so we got up and walked out stopping to pay for our drinks at the bar. They did say then that they would get our starters but we had had enough. They were only three tables occupied in the dining room so they were not busy we could see the waiters standing around talking, the starters were only pate so would only have taken a few moments to plate up. Thank you for...

LOVED it!! We were a party of 6 adults, two children and a dog. The staff were very welcoming and relaxed upon arrival. They offered dog treats and water for our little pup. The interior of a pub has a very nice rustic but modern feel - very warm and welcoming. I had the 12oz rump steak with frys and additional onion rings. The steak was cooked just how I ordered - medium rare and was well seasoned. Others had the pie of the day - steak and ale - which had lovely puff pastry on top and melt in your mouth beef. One had the titanic burger (double stack burger) which was Huge! The kids both had chicken goujons from the kids menu - these were the best goujons I've tried for a long time! 5 star meal, I would recommend to anyone!!!

We popped in on the off chance as hadn’t done our homework as regards how good the reviews were and we were delighted to find this gem. The fact that food was available throughout the day was so good when you are on holiday and eat at different times due to being active and out of routine .The staff were amazing . Hubby was delighted at the local beer actually served at the right temperature . Our grandson loved the fat chips . We all loved the food we chose . In fact so much so that we returned another day. Highly recommend . I had the Persian inspired lamb shank the first time and pork tenderloin with apple , bacon , rosemary and pecan stuffing. Very tasty

Just finished an impressive lunch here while staying nearby for our holiday. I understand the owners/landlords have recently changed, the menu is different from what were expecting - that's not a negative! We had starters of baked brie and the special of whitebait, then pork belly and beef brisket pie for mains. The pie was particularly delicious, properly full of tender beef, and very reasonably priced. Colcannon mash was cheesy and hearty comfort food at its best. Our total came to around £50 for an alcoholic drink and 2 courses each for 2 people, which I think was great value for the quality of food we had.
