A beautiful pub with cracking staff, the food is unbelievably scrumptious and generously portioned. I dined here for a goodbye meal on a Sunday with my family and everything was perfect, even down to the pour of my Guinness. A member of my family is usually unable to finish their meal. However, we were informed that a smaller portion is available (obviously for a reduced price) and it was perfect, the consideration and care of the staff is something I would expect in a high end London restaurant !

I couldn’t decide on what meat I would have liked for my Sunday roast, and like an angel sent straight from the lord himself, the Sous-chef appeared and guided my hand (and choice) like the lord himself, or perhaps, even the devil, whispering sweet nothings into my ear and leading me into temptation with the choice of all three meats. That’s BEEF, that’s PORK, that’s LAMB, all on one plate, served with the most delightful vegetables and one of the best Yorkshire puddings a man can ask for.

The atmosphere was exquisite inside the main seating area, with the log fire cracking away, and the chatter of family and friends around us. We were even treated to exclusive entertainment for a few moments, being sung; Vera Lynn We’ll meet again, by none other than the Sous-chef, I believe his name was Miles? However, it was his own rendition, with him opting to call it “We’ll three meats again”

All in all, this is a gem of a find and can’t recommend this place enough. I hope that one day we’ll three meats again, I do know where, but...

Came here on a Friday afternoon mid afternoon for a drink and a lite bite food. The pub was not busy with around 4 or 5 tables with people eating and bar was quiet. We got greeted warmly and told as its quiet sit where we wanted and they would be over to take a drinks order. 20 mins later the girl appeared to take our drinks order then after another 10 mins still no drinks even though they had be poured and were sitting on the bar. Whilst the server prepared other drinks for other customers. Our drinks were brought over aprx 25 to 30 mins after getting seated at our table. When the drinks were brought over was asked were we ready to order in which I said no as we would just have the drinks and due to the time it took to serve them we declined on ordering food as we had concerns on how long we would actually wait with no explanation or apology or reassurance that food would not take at long just got a sigh and an OK!!! I could understand if the place was busy but it was 3 pm on a Friday and was quiet. The 2 female members on front of house if they spent less time wandering around and concentrated on excellent customer service we would have orderd meals and would not be here typing a negative review. Had heard good reviews about the place but I won't be coming here again. After working for over 30 years in hospitality I really would expect more. I would advise management who I did not see any to maybe do some customer...

We visited this pub on a trip to Wales and were slightly disappointed by the whole experience.

The servers were kind however they took very long to do basically everything. We arrived and waited for a while to order, once we ordered we waited around 1 hour to receive our burgers. The chips on some plates were hot whilst others were like warm. The food was okay, slightly plain and no garlic aviolio on the burgers as stated in the menu.

Again we waited about 10 mins just for some sauces from the servers. My burger was plain apart from some onion rings which were undercooked and soft. Whilst eating I saw a small (non flying bug) come out from my burger, I'm not sure whether this had come from the table or the plate but either way it put me off my food. I asked for a new burger which came out very quickly however it seemed very rushed as the quality had decreased.

The serves were kind and asked me how it was, but overall I think they were just very slow. It was not busy however they was only 2 servers and I think they needed more.

I was disappointed as I barley ate any of the next burger due to the quality but still paid whole price for the meals and was offered no compensation.

Overall the food was okay, but I wouldn't go here if you are in any...

Thought we would try somewhere new with the parents. Wouldn't go back again. Portion for £14 was ridiculous. 1 small stem of broccoli 2&1/2 toasties green beans and peas a teaspoon of root mash. Think you pay for the Yorkshire beeing so big 2 slices of lamb. The parents had beef which was fatty and hardly any gravy on theres. They opted for desserts as I find chocolate cake sickly. ?£6 for a slice of chocolate cheesecake which was advertised as chocolate orange but it was a slice to accompany it even my 2 year old refused it. Over priced and under quality wont be going back anytime soon. Oh it also took 2 hours altogether after having to catch the attention of the 6-7 staff waiting on 10 tables for food orders aswell as drinks. Probably worst roast and service we've had for a long time thought with new owners it might of got better but with my parents regulars of the old owners they've said it's got worse and won't be returning either. £121 for 5 and 1/2 roasts 3 desserts and 6 drinks. Its gone over priced and less quality and quantity according to my parents.

Thoroughly enjoyed visiting the Blue Lion for dinner after a walk in the surrounding hills. The burger I had was a good one.

Lovely place! First visit and it wasn’t a disappointment in the slightest. We had a warm welcome and were seated by the window looking out over the valley and hills. Service was quick enough for sure and very friendly, chatty, even recommended places nearby. The bread board is easily enough for two, as was the 10oz gammon steak (the pic was after we split it). Honestly, sharing those two dishes, that was a very decent meal. It was all delicious, every part of it. Lovely coffee. Lovely atmosphere (though not sure about the music; it was a bit ‘wedding-afterparty style’) but I’m not knocking stars off for that as everything else was superb 🙂 If this has helped, give it a ‘like’ so that others see it 😉
