I have always had fond memories of a warm atmosphere and friendly staff in the past, but I was incredibly disappointed with how rude the staff was tonight. I walked in to find a lot of people sat at the bar- okay, this cannot be helped, but staff had no clue someone new had approached the bar (in fairness she was alone, but I was dressed pretty uniquely in comparison to what I can only assume is the regular clientele). I was served and sat down quietly. My partner joined a little later and I purchased his drink as he entered. First drinks went down a treat and my partner bought the second round. He tasted his Guinness and wasnât happy. Being a barmaid myself, I tried his drink and agreed something wasnât right. I went back to the bar to make the staff aware of this. It wasnât a complaint- I know that when the end of the barrel is close, the drinks occasionally taste off. From previous experience, the drink is either replaced, or an alternative offered (as I mentioned before, I am also a barmaid). Instead, the staff insisted there was nothing wrong despite not tasting it themselves and, quite rudely in front of a rather full pub, pointed out that many people were drinking Guinness. I would have accepted if sheâd checked that the barrel was 1. In date and 2. Wasnât empty/near end, but she refused to leave her post and continued to essentially belittle me. I returned to my partner feeling rather small and sheepish. He didnât finish his drink, which heâd paid nearly ÂŁ5 for (this is a village pub, not flipping London) and we left shortly after. Bitterly disappointed as I was looking forward to being reunited with a warm and...
Read moreI'm writing to express my disappointment and concern about our recent visit to The Bridge Inn Sandycroft for a family event. Despite being a family-friendly establishment, we were shocked to be told that they had no hot water available in the pub point blank. I found that odd as someone with experience in the industry as management for many years, I know that having hot water is a basic requirement for health and safety. Failure to do so for hygiene, food prep, and so on can result in enforcement. When I politely asked to double-check after family members had gone up, the staff member, I think the manager, which is shocking, was rude and dismissive. To my surprise, she later brought over a pan of boiling water and dumped it on the table. Considering they had none but now do, I was unsure if it was safe and sterilized and in a pan, yes a pan, which I found unacceptable and potentially hazardous for children. The lack of hot water and poor service were compounded by the reckless handling of hot water, which put our...
Read moreWell after all the good review we thought we would give it a go . We went on Tuesday the 19th December 2017 There was only 11 people in there we ordered garlic bread to start which we never recieved the girl serving said sorry and that there was only 1chef on but we still never recieved it. We ordered 2 steak pies and chips 1gammon chips Potato skins Scampi and chips We waited over hour for the meal the girl serving kept bringing food out but taking it to the wrong table. When finally we got the food it was disgusting the worse meals we have ever had. The pies were burnt The potato skins were over cooked and were rock hard The chips were under cooked In fact the whole meals were terrible. I ask the girl serving how long had the cook been a chef she replied that not long and he was winging it ,which was a surprise running a business with a chef thats winging it. She said he was leaving they said there was only 1 chef on but we saw 2 . We will never go there again you get better food in...
