My husband rang on Saturday to book for Sunday lunch, he checked on the phone if there was lamb stock used in the gravy (lamb makes my stomach poorly) he was told no so he booked for lunch. When we got there we double checked and they said there is lamb in the gravy!!! When we said we’d rung the day before and was told differently there was no apology. I was just offered vegetarian gravy. When the food came more disappointment, the cabbage was so overcooked it was gelatinous, mash lumpy. The vegetarian gravy was not very nice and I ended up giving my roast potatoes to my husband as I could taste lamb on it. My roast pork was dry and tough where it has been microwaved possibly to re heat. The best part was the vegetable soup starter, it was very nice. Finally, it’s just as well we did have the starter as the vegetables in the tureens are very small. If someone is a big eater they’d have to have more than 1 course. We weren’t asked half way through the meal or at the end when we paid if everything was ok either....

So disappointed. I've been coming here for over 2 years and today was the worst experience I've had. Starter of prawn cocktail was ok,...just. Pate was lovely, but only two tiny pieces of ciabatta for 2 big portions of pate. My lamb chops were lovely to be fair, but I would have preferred them with mashed potatoes and gravy, but was informed I would have to pay extra for the gravy???. So settled for chips. My friend had ham and parsley sauce, which actually tasted like butter sauce with a tiny bit of parsley in it, not enough for 2 large pieces of ham, which were lovely to be fair, but the sauce was stone cold. The other friend had mushroom and garlic pasta, a minute amount of mushrooms and could barely taste the garlic. Service was not top notch either, no one came to enquire if our meal was ok, and we were left after our main meal without anyone asking if we wanted a dessert, which we did, but eventually left without. Bill was wrong, good job we're honest. May be a while...

Had a meal on the Friday as new to the area and we enjoyed so booked in for the Sunday dinner at 12.30pm, however we arrived early at 11.50am this was not a problem as we greeted and told it's fine,we ordered drinks(Guinness is amazing)and was taken to our table, the food was excellent with a superb choice of meats and at £9.95 is the best value we have had this year with the quality of food as well.highly recommend and the staff are brilliant

We didn't eat here so can't comment on that side of things. But overall it's a very well maintained pub inside with a great feel. Restaurant area looked swanky with great lighting. We sat in the front bar area and played pool. One criticism is the TV was on very loudly and also the toilets really need renovating. Aside from that accommodating staff and pool table which is good. Nice pub for a drink.

Great Sunday lunch here today with my wife and 6 year old daughter. Fitted us in last minute and the service from start to finish was great. Staff consistently asking us if our food was ok and if our drinks needed topping up. Nothing was too much trouble. The Sunday roast was great and the Lemon Cheescake dessert was exceptional. Well done staff and chefs - well deserved 5 stars.
