We stayed a night with a dinner reservation at the (conveniently close) Walnut Tree, but on the strength of a STONKING Welsh breakfast (ft. homemade jams and brown sauce) we’ll likely eat here next time! Also, there are a four-poster bed in a spacious and well-stocked room, an excellent bar, and two very placid and sweet dogs. Terrific and characterful.

Been going here for special occasions for over 20 years including 50th birthday and Silver Wedding. Food is amazing and all cooked with local ingredients. This is a pub with great real ales but also with a top class restaurant. Rooms are great too if you need to stop over.

A very pleasant 2 night stay. Extremely friendly hosts and bar staff. We had an excellent meal in the restaurant, menu was varied and the food was great. Amazing breakfast both mornings, and the room was comfortable. All in all I can highly recommend The Clytha Arms.

Shambolic I am genuinely sad to have to post a 2 star review, I have been an occasional customer here for over 3 years. The choice and quality of beers is excellent, the menu is pleasantly different from anywhere else I have eaten and the food is enjoyable. So, that is the good. Sadly this is all let down by a shambolic service. You can stand at the bar for 5 to 10 minutes without even seeing any bar staff, then one will arrive serve somebody and disappear again.

Ate there recently, 4 of us, asked for the menu and spent 15 minutes deciding what to order only for the barman to come and take the menu's off of us saying they needed updating. 15 mins later and we had to go chase him down (still editing menus) to be told it would be quite a long wait, I pointed out there were only 4 others but apparently there were 2 more in the bar. So, then the starter came which turned out to be main courses (their mistake) and finally the main course, it was indeed a long wait. We paid individually and the barman forgot to charge one of us for a side dish, he had paid by card but apparently wasn't allowed to pay their mistake by card because it was less than ÂŁ5. After some debate he condescended to allow payment as it was a debit card.

Honestly this place could be great, no complaints about the food or drink it is refreshing to find something different and not too expensive but they really need to sort out there service, even the local drinkers complain about it. Please train up some staff! The barman on the night had a attitude problem. The girl a few nights earlier was much pleasanter and...

Booked a one night stay to break our journey on the way from Brum to Tenby and we were not disappointed . After booking,we were contacted to ask whether we wanted to book an evening meal - thankfully we did, as the restaurant was packed on that Saturday evening. Despite arriving early, we were checked in quickly and shown to our beautiful 4 poster room overlooking the extensive garden at the front of the pub. The room was massive with a lovely seating area and great furnishings and ornaments. The coffee machine was a contemporary touch, and there was a good mix of chocolate and biscuits along with complimentary water. There was an abundant selection of quality toiletries in the bathroom. The rainfall shower was excellent with great power and the towels were plentiful and of a good size and quality -I have 2 bugbears when staying somewhere - a trickling shower and small ,thin towels!! The bar was well stocked and drinks taken in the lovely garden were great on a sweltering afternoon. Dinner was served in the restaurant which was full with a good atmosphere . We had fish and chips and stuffed ham which were both excellent - the menu was varied and more varied than usual pub fare - tapas was also available which looked lovely. We slept sooo well in the extremely comfortable bed. Breakfast was another gem - started with freshly squeezed orange and grapefruit juice. The breakfast menu was top class - we had gin and beetroot infused salmon with poached egg and a full Welsh breakfast which included cockles and seaweed. Our only disappointment was...

We stopped here on our way back to London, following a wonderful stay in the Brecon Beacons. Having put in our orders, we waited for our meal to arrive. After about 20 minutes, the bartender came to our table and told us that unfortunately the pie that three of our party of six had ordered had inadvertently been binned earlier, so we had to reorder a different menu choice. The service was incredibly slow and when we queried how long it was taking we were told that the chef made everything from scratch. When our meal finally arrived some fifty minutes after arrival, it was served to us with no apology for the wait we had had. The meal itself was disappointing to say the least, the haddock dry and overcooked and the potato rosti that accompanied it burnt; the cider and leek sauce that accompanied the stuffed ham had separated and curdled; the calamari was undercooked and the mini spring rolls looked and tasted like they had come straight from the freezer, rather than being handmade. As such 4 out of 6 of our meals remained largely untouched. Having had the misfortune of reordering the ham as the pie was unavailable, I was glad that I had plenty of antacid tablets with me, I certainly needed them on the journey home as the while dish had been so indigestible. Value for money, absolutely not. Will I be returning,...
