Went to this Pub last night with my wife for a drink as we live local and I have been in here a few times. (It used to be a frequent haunt of mine) Ordered myself a pint of IPA and was ASTOUNDED at the price, £6.30. I asked the bar staff if that was the correct price, they told me it was, so took it on the chin, went to sit at the small table near the entrance by the window. Was then told it was reserved and we had to go into the extension at the back where there are 3 barrels and some stools, but we explained there were already people there, to which I was told that's unfortunate, but you cant sit there.
We went to sit outside in the cold and finish our ridiculously priced drinks.
I then find out from my neighbour that there is a 'Loyalty Card' which reduces the price of the drinks and if you don't have one, you pay the extortionate prices that they have put in place to cash in on the holiday trade from the local caravan sites and holiday lets.
Good luck with that when you have two people at the bar ordering the same thing and they get charged differently.
Honestly, I think this is disgraceful. I understand that prices have had to go up due to increased overheads, BUT, £6.30 for a pint of IPA, when another person stood next to me ordering the same drink, gets it cheaper.
And I am a local.....Never mind !!!???
Reply to your response: As I stated I totally understand that there has been price increases due to energy , transport costs etc, but £6.30 a pint, please, this is Trelawnyd, I know you are on London Road, but its certainly not London. However you try to explain or rationalise it, those prices are ridiculous, especially when you have another price structure for other people.
The back area had people sat at all the barrels otherwise we would have sat by one, rather than sit outside.
Checking the CCTV after you have charged those prices to see if you recognise someone seems extremely odd !!! But, if that is how you do things, everyone...
Read moreVisited this place on a Sunday whilst travelling back home looking for somewhere nice to eat. Walked in and was immediately seated at a table, this place has a proper village feel to it where you are welcomed and immediately made to feel at ease without any pressure, there a very friendly feel to the place where all the staff have banter with the customers. The food (being the main point) is absolutely gorgeous, I cannot fault any aspect at all, me and my partner had soup of the day with chicken liver pate followed by the steak burger and lasagne. The portions are well worth the money you pay, there is no holding back by the kitchen staff. I did ask the waitress on her recommendations as I was torn between the Sunday roast or the burger and she recommended the burger, either way from all the dishes that were leaving the kitchen they all looked equally tasty and good portion sizes. Unfortunately we didn't have any desserts as we were both too full from the food, but they looked huge as well.
In all of you are looking for somewhere that is chilled, friendly and non mainstream this place is literally 5 minutes off the A55 and well worth a visit, I lige on the Wirral and would happily go out my way to visit this place again, if this place was in a well built area the possibilities would be endless if they produce this...
Read moreMy wife and I were 'walk ins' at 5.30pm. Whilst at the bar, ordering drinks my wife chose a table at which to sit. This was in the bar area with just one other table occupied. On being served I was asked if I had a reservation and replied "No. We are just intending to drink". I was served and took the drinks to the table. The Crown is a very presentable establishment and we were happy to be there. My wife had looked through a very presentable menu and suggested that we could order a large Moules as a sharer. We were influenced by the presentation of the meals at the adjoining table. I went to the bar to duly order and when asked where we we sitting I pointed out the table. I was then told " That table is reserved, you'll have to move!". There was no indication at the table that it was reserved. Had there been then my wife would not have chosen. The lifeblood of hospitality establishments is to ensure that first time visitors return. The manner in which we were told to move was not appreciated and the, subsequent, offer of an alternative table did not ameliorate the situation. We will not...
