So, I popped in here on a whim, I was working in the area and decided to grab myself a nice lunch.
Nearest pub to where I was working was this quaint little place. Inside looks really nice, clean and even has an old style area with slate/wood flooring (the original building) which is gorgeous to sit in.
So, let's talk about the food. Now I wasn't expecting much from a place in the middle of Rhymney with no prior recommendations to go off. But man I was blown away, the food here is absolutely stunning! I ordered the steak Cabattia which comes served with cheese, lettuce and caramelised red onions with a side of house fries, all I can say was it was cooked to perfection! The chef had his temperatures perfect, the steak was gorgeously medium, the fries were crispy and deliciously seasoned and portion size was perfect for the size of the meal.
I later learnt from a staff member who served me that the chef is only 25, he has a real talent for cooking and if you get the chance, pop into this little pub, even if it's just to try the food he cooks. The staff are chatty and vibrant, the chef definitely knows how to cook and the menu is full of mouth watering meals to chose from.
And if you want to enjoy a drink then their alcohol and soft drink selection is pretty vast!
I'd like to extend my thanks to the staff for such a wonderful service which made my day just a little bit brighter, and I'd like to extend my thanks to the chef for a lunch that was full of flavour and comparable to what I'd expect out of a 5 star restaurant.
I will be making this a...

Read moreWe came to Wales on holiday and before we came, we looked up roast dinners near where we was staying and The Farmers Arms came up, although it was about a 20 minute drive from where we are staying, we thought we would try it and it didn't disappoint. The food is amazing. The atmosphere is lovely and the staff are really friendly and helpful too. My daughter enjoyed it that much she wanted to come again this evening and yet again the food was outstanding. The Steak and Ale pie was unbelieveable, the steak just melted and i asked for mash instead of chips and they couldn't have been more accomodating. My two kids both had the chicken goujons and chips and in my 8 year old daughters words it was amazing. My 3 year old also ate it all. I would highly recommend The Farmers Arms and when were back on holiday in Wales again we will definately be back. Excellent value for money. ...
