NO WAY this is 4.5 stars! We chose it because it ranked high on our map but were hugely disappointed.

Chips came completely burnt and dripping with brown, industrial-grade, frying "fat". A good server would refuse those at the kitchen but unfortunately, they proceeded to push them to us.

When we sent the chips back, the server came with the same chips and said that "they are fine", as if I never had chips before! The cook even came out and shouted at us in front of everyone, even threatening to call the police, as if we don't know our rights!

I can't believe this has actually happened. Usually, restaurants have basic dignity to take back failed food. I attach a picture so that you see the chips were rancid.

Anyway, even if you don't get burnt food and a hostile cook - still, no point going there because it's bog-standard pub grub: 6oz burger, chilli, curry, salmon fillet, "real ales", you get the point... You can have the same lazy pub meal anywhere else and not have...

Came here for a family meal with granny and kids etc 8 in total of us, great service and very nice pub grub great selection of drinks and wonderful staff. They have a good menu with some traditional pub dishes, some great local dishes such as Lamb Cawl and some more varied things like Fishless Fish (battered deep fried halloumi) also home made chips with every meal.

They have a nice bar, they are dog friendly, and have bandit, jukebox and pool table all the trimmings of a good pub.

If I were to criticise anything it would be the condition and location of the pool table, covered in dust/crumbs, no decent cues and located right outside the entrance to the kitchen making it awkward for staff and pool players alike.

Overall a great experience but don't come here for a really good game of pool, this however is a minor issue to...

We called in here for an evening meal after walking the coastal path here in Pembrokeshire. We were pleased to see that there were new owners here and what a difference they make! The landlord greeted us warmly, provided menus and invited us to sit wherever we liked. He was also very helpful when I explained I was gluten free, and made sure I was happy with my selection. We were a little wary as we'd found the meals in other pubs in the area to be sadly lacking, but we need not have worried. The food was excellent. Good quality, hot and tasty. The chips were especially good - homemade - not frozen. The prices are reasonable and we will definitely return. The landlord is really helpful and friendly as is his wife who served us our meals. I'd definitely recommend a visit if you're in the area - if only...

We had a fantastic lunch at The Farmers Arms in Mathry with the whole family—kids, grandparents, and even the dog! This family-run pub made us feel instantly at home with its warm and welcoming atmosphere. The food was superb; between us, we had the fish pie (the best we’ve ever had!), a chicken burger, curry, and beef burgers. Everything was absolutely delicious, and the value was excellent. The locals were lovely, and it was great to have a friendly chat with them. Being dog-friendly was a huge plus for us as well. This place is an absolute gem, tucked not far from St. David’s, and we can’t recommend it enough. Looking forward to our next visit!

Tasty food, very dog friendly and good atmosphere inside. The staff were welcoming and the whole family really enjoyed their meals. Would recommend for anyone visiting Mathry or the surrounding area; there’s not a lot of dog friendly+food pubs around in Pembrokeshire, but this place was a delight. Will definitely be coming again soon. 👍
