We stopped in on our way to Porthmadog this Sunday around 3pm—and what an unforgettable find!
From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by a lovely and incredibly helpful server (who, as it turned out, was celebrating her birthday—happy birthday again! 🎉). She guided us through the Sunday menu with clarity and charm, then showed us to a beautifully set table in a cozy, inviting space.
Every dish on the menu sounded divine, so we couldn’t resist the 3-course option for just £27—an absolute steal for the quality we received.
To start, I had the chicken liver pâté accompanied by perfectly warmed bread rolls—rich, smooth, and utterly delicious. For the main course, the braised lamb with seasonal vegetables was a showstopper—tender, flavorful, and beautifully presented. And dessert? A heavenly apple and raspberry crumble, served with both ice cream and custard—comfort food elevated to the next level.
Every bite was spectacular. The portion sizes were spot on, and the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere made the whole experience feel special. The service was flawless—attentive but never intrusive, with a pace that allowed us to truly enjoy our meal without ever feeling rushed.
This place is an absolute gem of a gastro pub. The care, the quality, the ambiance—everything was just right. A huge thank you to the entire team for making our visit so memorable. We’ll absolutely be back.
If you’re in the area, do yourself a favor—go. You won’t be disappointed.
Total bill with a drink and a little extra custard? Just £32. Worth every...
Read morewe had not booked as we were traveling to a camp site and just very hungry. Bar man was unsociable/ hostile if I'm honest , but pointed us in the direction of a, manager who was very pleasant but informed us no seats inside with dog was available, but pointed us in the direction of the outside garden ( The dog area inside had several tables empty which were still empty when we left !! )we sat on picnic benches outside... ( awful ) dirty and no sun shade in place .. on a positive note the 2 young servers one with blonde hair ,the other with dark curly hair were amazing and friendly .. the other youngster actually didn't bring any cutlery so fingers were needed to eat the food until the curly haired lad arrived to rescue us . .. We would have spent loads more money there had we been seated in a table , that was empty until we left .. I was so appalled by the outside area if I'm honest I was on my way to stop my husband paying and go elsewhere... I mean why pay that price for an very very average meal and surroundings . I do not recommend to go outside and eat ... im unsure about inside bur bar man needs to put a bigger smile on his face and think about people not ooze hostility ... I really hope this is constructive xx Would I ever go again .... if I'm...
Read moreWaitresses were all lovely. However, reliance on poorly trained teenagers meant the service was generally terrible.
As mentioned below they failed to effectively deal with dietary requirements. Meaning I had a 20 minute additional wait for my starter which meant I was eating alone.
There was then almost an hour wait until the mains arrived. This was spread over 15-20 minutes. One of our group was given his meat 1st and potatoes last, so half his food was cold and half too hot to eat by we were all served. He also recieved new potatoes despite ordering mash.
My risotto was bland all bar the excessive salt and pepper. Tasted like a very cheap stock and nothing else. The limp accompanying salad leaves and enormous cucumber chunks were not dressed and gritty.
My friends curry was entirely lacking vegetables and was clearly a bought in curry sauce that would have been better suited to a chip shop and chip shop prices.
My son's mash (ordered from the children's menu) was so salty he couldn't eat it.
At no point in the evening did anyone ask us if we were okay or needed anything. We had to get up a number of times to chase up food and order drinks.
Would advise avoiding this place. Feels like they're buying cheap and selling expensive buy doing a bad job...
