We booked a table for 7 over a week before our visit last night (26/04/2016) with some close friends and the children to celebrate my Fiancée's Birthday. We asked if we could put some banners up. But as they have just refurbished so they would not be able to do this, which was fair enough, but they would display the banners on the table. So far so good...
When we arrived before our friends and were shown to our table that's when things started to go down hill. Our table for 7 was actually a rectangle table for 4 and a round table for 4 in other words two completely separate tables. We asked if we could move as this setup was unacceptable as we were a group did not want to sit with our backs to our friends. We were told in no uncertain terms that was all they had and that we would have to put up with it or leave. The waitress was obnoxious, rude and just couldn't give two hoots. I wanted to walk out there and then but for the sake of everyone we stayed. We did move the tables together to get some sort of acceptable compromise but this we had to do ourselves. We were lucky that there were 7 not 8. So we told the waitress we would stay but that we were not totally happy.
Now with this start you would think that this may have made the staff, who were now aware of the initial problem, would try to make some sort of effort. Our friends had now arrived and we then having a general chit chat when a waiter brought over the banners that we had given to them a few days earlier started to lay them over the tables, better late than never I suppose. So as mentioned we were talking and deciding what we were going to order. We got drinks from the bar and waited, and waited and waited for someone to come over to take our order. We eventually got someone's attention and were told someone would be with us soon. So we waited and waited again at 8:15pm someone did come over to take our order a full 45 minutes after we had all sat down and we were sat right in the walkway and not stuck in a corner.
So we were now waiting for our food to arrive. Guess what? We waited and waited and waited some more. We were told our food was on its way and one waiter apologised for the delay (not bad as this was the first apology over an hour after our original problems arose) so we waited and waited and waited some more, being told our food is being cooked now, it will be here soon, our food was next.... Well it did eventually arrive a full hour and a half after our arrival....
Now at this point I would love to say that the food was disgusting but I can't as actually the food was quite good although not real chips as has been mentioned in another review but the frozen variety.
So all in all I would recommend you avoid this place if you want something more than just good food as that is all you will get, you certainly will not get good service and for that reason I will not ever be back here. Yes it's just a tarted up pub that serves decent pub grub but that's it... Oh one more thing the staff couldn't wait for you to leave (not just us as we were unhappy with them but this goes for every table there last night) the came, as you'd expect to take the plates and cutlery away, but they come back and take your table mat, their salt and pepper shakers and even the dish with your sachets of vinegar (they must have gone over budget on the referb and couldn't spend a couple of quid on vinegar bottles). It was pretty unbelievable I'm wondering if there is a place mat crew working the area looking to rob the joint.
Well rant over but it will be a very long time before the memory of this place goes away... For all the...
Read moreReally hate leaving bad reviews, but feel so disappointed by tonight’s experience. Given the current situation we’re all in I was so grateful that The Greenfield we’re delivering, means it’s Mother’s Day tomorrow we’d planned on having a Greenfield meal at home. We placed our order yesterday at 12:30. Asked if we could have our order delivered at 6pm and told no problem. And I’d receive a phonecall before my delivery left to make payment over the phone. Perfect! However, 6 o’clock came and no delivery. Given current situations we left it another half hour before contacting. Called at 6:30 and told that our delivery was on its way, GREAT! 45 minutes later it’s now 7:15 and still no delivery. So I phone again to be told oh sorry it’s looking at me now on the shelf it’s the next delivery and the driver has just got back so won’t be long. Brilliant. Absolutely starving at this point, with 2 children starving. Another hour then passed and STILL no delivery! So we phone again, only to this time be told that deliveries stopped at 6:30 and there was no order for us all along? I appreciate an apology which was given, however, I’d spent 2 hours waiting for food, gave the benefit of the doubt and totally appreciated the situation this local business had found themselves in so didn’t want to push too much. What I can’t understand is if a business had received 3 phone calls asking where a meal was how was this not reiterated to the driver or person sorting the meals? Surely on the second phone call someone would have communicated that people were still waiting on their meals. With feelings already hightened due to what is going on in the world, and having looked forward to this meal all day, I feel really sad that a place myself and family love to dine at has let us down. I really hope that if this restaurant continues to do deliveries during this very tricky time we all find ourselves in that their communication between order takers, telephone calls, serving staff and delivery staff improves. If not then there will be repeats of what has happened to me this evening. Unfortunately can’t fault the food as it never...
Read moreWe were a fairly large part of 14 people, that were there to celebrate my brother's birthday. He was home from Canada for the first time in years. Our booking was for 4pm and we were told we had 2 hours at the table as there was another booking after us, which was fair enough. The welcome and service was awful and it took 35 minutes before anyone came to take our orders. Our food actually started arriving at 5.15pm and it was about ten minutes before everyone was served, which meant 35 minutes to eat and leave the table. The food was excellent though, great quality and very large portions, homemade chips, which were lovely. I had a steak and it was cooked perfectly. No one came to check if we were happy with our food and we weren't offered any deserts as the next contact we had with staff, was to tell us that the next party were in and could we leave the tables as soon as possible. In all the food was of a very good standard and everyone enjoyed it. But the service, welcome and organisation were very poor indeed, so disappointing and...
