Had a lovely time here. My wife Linda and I camped nearby and had Sunday lunch the following morning. We, plus our son and and his two friends demolished a first class Sunday dinner with the most wonderful Yorkshire puddings. They were so amazing, they had risen so much they really should be called Monmouthshire puddings. Rhi, her husband and staff were friendly and service was excellent. Food excellent too with a good range of drinks. What I loved about the Half Way Tal y Coed is how authentic the whole place is, a real gem of a pub run by people who really look after you. Thank so much. And that's not all.... there is a village shop run from the premises and Rhi has put on numerous courses for the local area, such as textiles, first aid etc. Really is at the heart of the place. Thank you VISIT SOON - YOU...

We spent a week in South Wales gliding and this was our first outing for something to eat. The food was excellent as were the owners who catered for dogs as well with their dog food menu. (We didn’t bring a dog, just something to note!) I had probably one of the best burgers I’ve ever tasted washed down with Butty Bach. They also were very attentive to one of our group who had a gluten allergy. We ate out in other places throughout the week to explore what was on offer and it’s testament to the quality of service, atmosphere, food and drink and how engaging and passionate the owners are that we chose to come back and eat there again. And it wasn’t a one off, it was superb again! I wish them...

The Halfway is an absolutely lovely pub and restaurant. I can see why this is a haunt for locals — the atmosphere is cozy and the staff and landlords are incredibly welcoming. Upon learning that we were visiting the area to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday, they brought out a pavlova and a celebratory paper cake. It was just very thoughtful and special!

Apart from the service, the quality of the food was stellar. I ordered the parsnip and leek crumble, my boyfriend had the hunters chicken, and we shared the beetroot falafel. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals!

The pub is very dog friendly, for those bringing their furry friends!

We will absolutely return to The Halfway if we visit...

Picturesque and very rural 17thC Inn once owned by William Hancock & Co Brewery of Cardiff, passed to Bass in 1968 and Brains in 1999. Now a Freehouse run by a very welcoming couple, Rhiannon & Jason. We took advantage of the free camper van accommodation in the secluded field behind the pub for the 3rd Wednesday Music night. The staff and locals are all very friendly and we were asked to sing! We enjoyed an enormous Lasagne for £15 and excellent real ales (two on pump) at £4-20/Pt. So glad we found this gem of a pub. An excellent evening and we will be back. Many thanks.

It’s not often you walk into a pub off the beaten track that has such a beautiful beer garden, such friendly staff and a unique charm. There was a live band on when we went which added to the atmosphere. We stayed for dinner, the portions were great and very well priced and there were plenty of gf options. Two ales on, Butty Bach (a personal favourite of mine) and HPA, both great. All in all, a great pub full of locals as well as people passing through. Will definitely be back!

First visit to this lovely, characterful pub, mid way between Monmouth and Abergavenny and close to the Offa's Dyke Path. We went for Sunday lunch following a pleasant walk along a nearby forestry track. Roaring fire, outstanding welcome from staff. Unspoilt 'proper' pub with good, hearty food, in a lovely atmosphere.
