The Kings Head — Restaurant in Wales

I arranged a 70th birthday party for my wife at home in Guilsfield on the 25th June 2022,and after scouring the internet chose Louise at the Kings Head Guilsfield to deal with all of the catering. All I can say is that she was quite FANTASTIC. I chose the platinum menu from her various choices and ordered approximately 22 of these. I also ordered quite a few bottles of Prosecco, hired some wine glasses and she provided some "metal wine containers" to keep the wine cool during the afternoon. Since there were a number of children in attendance I suggested everything should arrive at the house at about 1pm. Not only did Louise and a "helper" arrive promptly; THEY removed all of the food from their transport and placed the plates and other receptacles on the tables. Particularly impressive was the fact that Louise made 2 journeys to and from the house to collect the food and other items and to set them out for the party to begin when, I believe, normally delivery is NOT included in any of her "options" and further there was no need for my wife and I to "scrub" any of the plates etc provided before they were collected the next morning promptly at 10am as previously arranged. The food provided was quite delicious and was of a sensible mix between vegetarian and other types and we received glowing comments upon it during the whole of the afternoon and early evening. I suspect anybody preparing for a party always suffers some kind of concern that everything will go well. This was never the case from the very first time I contacted Louise and indeed my initial face to face contact with her was on the morning of the party, all other communications being dealt with via email. Having visited a couple of times for meals before we took friends last week and other friends this week because we were so impressed with the food and service. I loathe to say the last two visits were a disappointment. Last week my new potatoes were served very late. In fact after I had finished my salmon. Had to eat the fish before it got cold. This week six of us went, looking forward to a lovely evening. Our orders were taken.five meals came and one of the party had to wait fifteen minutes before his came. Most of us had almost finished ours. The chips looked extremely greasy and burnt. A little training wouldn't go amiss regards going across a customer's body to put a drink down while he was eating. We do visit here quite abit when opportunity allows, due to being involved with guilsfield bowls club, my other half is involved with guilsfield young farmers, and its a generally lovely pub just to visit for a couple of hours, have a few drinks and if during the day, we would pop in and have a few games of pool. Staff are always so lovely, we have had food here once, absolutely beautiful and well worth it. Its lovely to see they have managed to make it through the pandemic and still be rolling.
