Hidden, secret gem!!! We stopped here earlier on our way back. Hubby ordered the 10oz steak & I had the Scampi. The welcome was really warm. The barman was extremely friendly and chatty but not overly chatty that it’s disturbing or holding you up. He was the perfect host. Even spoke a little welsh with me. He got us seated and got our drinks. We noticed the open fire and decided to sit there to warm up a touch while waiting for our food. We did not have to wait long (but it was quiet at this time). My husband wanted to try his steak a little medium but more well cooked. The steak came out perfect, if I had known it would come out like that I would have had it too. It isn’t often you can tell a host how you would like your food cooked and they take it on board. I nearly dropped when the gentleman brought our food out, I chose the garlic and herb new potatoes with my scampi and I am so glad I did. They were tasty, cooked perfectly and extra tasty again. The scampi was large with a generous portion. And, although breaded the scampi inside was not small, the portions are very large and perfect. I actually could not eat my salad because I was full, my husband polished his food right off and the steak was perfectly lean. Some people may look at the menu and think that’s a bit overpriced and I can understand that, but, when you see the actual portions and take into account what you would receive if you went somewhere cheap and cheerful, the prices reflect the portions, quality of the produce and quality of how it is cooked to the customers wants. Having found out on paying that it is a b&b we took a card so we can come down for the occasional night as they were advertising bingo too. It is the perfect place I would say a quaint little pub as it does look like that but when you go in it is really big. But, it does not look big because of the layout. When eating by the bar you would be completely forgiven for believing you are in a quaint little pub. Will 100% be re-visiting both as customers and staying guests. Thank you...
Read moreReally friendly pub in Rhos. Location Is ideal as it is easy to find and has it's own Car Park. It is a B&B but we did not stay we only popped in for a meal. The Service was excellent and the waitress was very friendly. The menu had plenty to choose from, half our party enjoyed there meal which was taste and ample.
The other half on reflection wish they had made a different choice as the Chicken and Mushroom Stroganoff / Mushroom Stroganoff are the same dish, the chicken one came with a sliced chicken breast in it which had clearly been added after as it did not have any flavour and the Tagliatelle on both was overcooked and didn't really go with it as a meal. I sure if we had ordered something different we would of...
Read moreMy hubby and I decided to go for lunch at The Lamb before my dental appointment in Newcastle Emlyn in the afternoon. We both chose the steak/cheese +onion baguette served with lovely crispy chips and homemade coleslaw. We also ordered a portion of homemade onion rings which were the best we have ever tasted. The meals were cooked to perfection, tasty and well presented with good portions. Fortunately I had a take away box kept in our car, so what we couldn’t finish we brought home with us as far too good to waste. Craig was so friendly, courteous and nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be back when in the area...
