I’m giving it a 1 star however I’d prefer to give it a 0, this is due to the fact that they got my step mothers order wrong as she had asked for no salad and received mushrooms and tomatoes. When she asked for it to be re made as the mushrooms were all over the gammon there was a sigh as if they didn’t want to make it, then they brought out the gammon and eggs with no chips and no new cutlery even though chips were asked for. The young girl who served us had the worst attitude ever and appeared to be annoyed at the fact she had to take the food back and proceeded to give us attitude. My burger had no sauce as was dryer than ever to the point I had to put my own sauce on and that didn’t help much there was also cartilage in my burger. The table of 6 besides us was offered a jug of water on their table and we weren’t until it came to the end of our meal (they were offered straight away). There was music playing in the background and we were placed in the “tea room” as the “pub” tables around the corner were all reserved however after being in there for 40-60 minutes the tables were all still empty. And as we were leaving the young girl who had served us said with a sarcastic tone “we hope to see you again soon”. We were also made to wait 20 minutes before we could order as the kitchen wasn’t opening until 5pm even though it said food served from 12pm. Overall, I would not recommend this place and I wouldn’t go back after the service we...

Much improved. This is a local venue for us. Over the years it has had many ups and downs. My last review a year ago was only one star. As you can see, this time it got five. The new landlady is making a positive difference. We went on spec...myself, husband and adult son. The place was packed and everyone was ordering food. We were warmly welcomed upon arrival and our orders quickly and accurately taken. Unfortunately for us, we ordered just after another enormous party and therefore had quite a wait. We had all ordered pizza, which hasn't ever been on the menu during past visits. Due to the previous order we waited quite some time. We were in no rush and we therefore did not complain. After waiting for a while, an unsolicited apology was made and we were offered a round of drinks on the house. This makes all the difference. Knowing that we hadn't been forgotten and that our orders were on the way meant that we were very satisfied with having to wait. The offer of drinks was a lovely surprise and demonstrated a commitment to good customer service. When the food came it was clearly homemade and delicious. We really enjoyed our visit and will now return more often. Service...

We have been calling here for over 20 years, has always been a lovely place to have food and drink. I rang up Friday to book a meal for Saturday, table for four adults and one child - when we arrived, I went to the bar, said who we were, the woman behind the bar looked at me like I had spoken a foreign language, checked the diary and said there was no booking made (although the person that took the booking asked for my name, mobile number etc)

Anyway there was nobody in the dining room, just us. we ordered a childs sausage and chips meal, when it arrived the sausage was a huge herby sausage that was well cooked. Not impressed.

My dad is Coeliac and when he asked if the chips were gluten free, she didn't know, she went to check with the chef and he said they were - My dad was ill after 15 mins of eating the chips meaning they definitely weren't gluten free.

The waitress bringing the food out called my wife a sir - the next plate she brought out she had glasses on and assumed my mum had ordered my burger!

You could smell air freshener that were in the toilets everywhere!

I could go on and on but you get the picture. Real shame this pub has gone like this because it...

Arrived when it was pretty quiet, ordered veggie fajitas and a burger. An hour later, everyone else that arrived after us had been served, yet no sign of our food. No apology for the wait, except when we decided to pay for our drinks and leave - (after asking them if they were aware of our order, which they were). Table was dirty when we arrived (it had been sanitised but had crusty food stuck to the surface - my photo of this is after I’d scrubbed it with a damp napkin. We feel completely let down on several fronts, and there was no attempt to make up for the “oversight” either. Beer was served in a dirty pint glass too. Perhaps we were unlucky…

Just discovered this place at the end of our 2 week camping trip in Hay! We had pancakes with bacon and maple syrup and a Old Barn breakfast - all absolutely delicious especially the griddled bacon. Best value meal we had all holiday and super efficient friendly service. Masses of choice on menu too. Clean, spacious, nice toilets, also a nice grassy outdoor area by stream for sunnier days! If we had found it sooner we certainly would have visited more often.

Popped in for a bite to eat while away for Valentine's day with my wife. The staff were very welcoming, the regulars made the place feel relaxed and homey. Food was absolutely stunning and the chef was polite and professional. Will definitely be visiting again. The decor was lovely and they had country music playing in the background. (As a country fan this was very welcome).. Cannot fault the people or the venue at all. Stunning place for food!
