During our visit to Brecon, we stopped at The Old Ford Inn in Llanhamlach, and it turned out to be one of the loveliest experiences of our trip. The setting itself is beautiful—the inn sits in a charming spot surrounded by the rolling hills and greenery of the Brecon Beacons. From the moment we arrived, there was a cosy, welcoming atmosphere that made us feel instantly relaxed.
We decided to have dinner there and ordered a rib-eye steak and the gammon. Both dishes were excellent. The steak was cooked perfectly, tender and full of flavour, and the gammon was just as delicious, hearty, and well-prepared. The portions were generous, and everything came out hot and beautifully presented. It felt like real quality pub dining done with care.
What made the evening even more special was the staff. Every member of the team we interacted with was genuinely kind, attentive, and friendly without ever being intrusive. They created such a pleasant environment, checking in at the right moments and making sure we had everything we needed. It really added to the overall experience.
Between the lovely surroundings, the good food, and the kind hospitality, The Old Ford Inn is the kind of place that makes you want to return. Whether you’re visiting Brecon for a short trip or you’re a local looking for a nice meal out, this inn is well worth a stop. We left feeling full, happy, and very well...
Read moreIf I could give Maria and her team 10 stars out of 5, I absolutely would. Maria was the most professional, friendly, flexible and extremely accommodating host. Our choir, Cantorion Cyfarthfa, were singing at Peterstone Court today for one of our member’s daughter’s wedding. As soon as I rang Maria to book, she understood completely that we were unsure of timescales etc. We even had to amend our booking and again, she was so kind and accommodating. She actually kept the pub open for the 14 of us! Every single meal was freshly cooked and delivered together. All our meals were homemade, hot and absolutely delicious. Portion sizes were also very generous too. We felt no pressure at all to rush and we actually felt so relaxed there. So we stayed for more drinks and dessert too. So reasonably priced. We chatted to Maria and her staff for quite a while and we have already organised a return booking for later in the year. What a treat and I would 100% highly recommend this little gem with THE most stunning views of the Beacons 🥰 Now to get hubby to bring me for lunch...
Read moreWe stayed one night in this inn.
Bar & Restaurant The inn has a welcoming bar with a few local beer options and a restaurant that serves good quality food.
Parking & Scenery Parking is sufficient, even on busy days. The surrounding scenery is beautiful. While you can’t really enjoy it from inside the building, there are a couple of benches outside where you can sit with a drink and take in the view.
Facilities There are no additional facilities nearby, but the inn itself provides a pleasant and comfortable stay.
Rooms The rooms are clean but a little dated. The shower worked well, and the toilet was clean. The floors weren’t spotless or shiny, but still acceptable.
Staff The staff were very friendly, helpful, and welcoming throughout our stay.
Price For holiday periods, the price felt slightly higher than what you receive – but this seems to be the case with most places I’ve...
