Old Point House is a restaurant and pub located in Angle, Pembrokeshire, Wales. It is housed in a Grade II listed building that dates back to the 17th century. The restaurant has a reputation for serving high-quality food, using locally-sourced ingredients. The pub also has a wide selection of beers and wines.
The restaurant has a warm and inviting atmosphere. The dining room is decorated in a traditional style, with exposed beams and stone walls. The tables are well-spaced, so you can enjoy a relaxing meal without feeling crowded.
The food at Old Point House is delicious. The menu changes seasonally, but you can always expect to find fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. Read moreI’ve been coming here for many years, at many times of the year. Both in and out of season. I’ve always had a warm welcome from most of the staff. Sadly I’ve had a couple of visits within the last month where one member of staff was so stand off I was lost for words. Considering it’s one of only two pubs in Angle and I prefer and love this location to the other. The gentleman was so put out that I went into the actual pub to get drinks instead of using the outside bar (I had no idea about) he refused to serve me stating they were too busy to possibly provide three drinks all despite no one being at the bar. It was extremely unprofessional. Which is very sad. He was also incredibly rude to another couple that then appeared to ask to book a table. On other occasions the lady or younger gent that has always served us were both lovely. Would it put me off going again? Hmm after spending 25 years plus visiting this area which we love. Ill try again. Maybe he was having a bad day? Thing is, when you run a place which obviously thrives on holiday and passing trade during the holiday seasons and provides good food and drink. You’d think customer service would be on point at all times. There is no axe to grind here. I’ve been a customer for a long time here I’ve brought people here for a drink, listen to the music and eat the food which is good, but this time was a complete embarrassment to me. Thankfully the gentleman running the outside bar was warm , friendly and helpful. UPDATED June 2023. Sadly Jonathan you were the one that told us to go outside. I get you may have busy times, I get you may get stressed and overworked. That said. When people enter your pub from the lifeboat station side I suggest a polite sign saying something along the lines of bookings only inside and an arrow pointing to the outside shed you have in the garden! Which has delightful staff in it. Then there is no...
Read moreWe walked the coast path from West Angle Bay on a sunny, blustery December day, specifically to end up at this fabulous, cosy, dog friendly pub for a light bite. On our arrival, absolutely massive, gorgeous looking Sunday dinners were being served but we were hoping to have something a bit smaller from the Cafe Mor menu which a staff member advised was not being served.
Disappointed, we prepared to leave and told a different, female member of staff we were reluctantly leaving in search of a smaller bite. This lovely lady could not do enough for us. She immediately offered to prepare something from the cafe menu and we very thankfully took our coats back off and snuggled back into our seats.
We ordered two burgers (meat and veggie) and a crab sandwich with two chips to share between the 3 of us.
What arrived were 3 of the biggest sandwiches I have ever eaten, served in the softest, most delicious home made foccacia bread, with perfectly cooked crispy chips and all the lovely sauces. I'm not sure about a "light bite", I almost killed myself trying to eat it, but I have no regrets. 😊
The crab sandwich was the fullest crab sandwich I have eaten anywhere, and my sister loved the veggie burger(she is not easy to please on the VB front). My partner's beefburger was as lovely as always.
Afterwards, on learning it was my birthday, out come the lovely staff member with a delicious chocolate cake to finish. I was so full I had to take it home with me and devour it with a cuppa much much much later, but the kind gesture was very appreciated and the whole experience and great service by the lady made our day.
If she reads this review then I want to say again, thank you very much. We will...
