We booked this venue for my 40th birthday meal with family. The food was pre-ordered, was welcomed into the venue and all started well. However there was then a mix up with our food, our main meals got taken to the wrong table, we watched them do this, and then taken back to the kitchen. After a further wait our starters arrived (1 hour after sitting at our table). All ok with the starters and an apology for the wait with 3 free drinks given. Then the food took a further 20 minutes to arrive, at which point some of it was dried out and cold, it had obviously just been sat under a hot lamp to be kept warm. Complained about this and was told someone would come back. No body came back. Food got taken away, no one came to our table to replenish the drinks, probably avoiding us at this point. Got asked 3 times if we wanted dessert as the food was taken away, each time said no. Asked for the bill. The bill arrived and the sea bass (my cold meal) was still on the bill. Requested it be removed. No one came to speak to us. We then went to the bar area to see if this could be rectified. The manager spoke to us and said they could not take the food off the bill as only the owner can do this and he was not there (we had seen him in the ou so not convinced he wasn’t there), I also asked why no one came back to speak about my cold meal and was told it was because they were busy, yet I watched the manager, the same person I complained to, behind the bar doing nothing. After much discussion we begrudgingly paid (maybe we should of just walked away)and left. At which point I saw the manager go back behind the bar laughing and smirking, when confronted about his behaviour he apologised, absolutely disgusting behaviour and service. Happy 40th...

We came here for a meal before family members had to travel back home and it was also a family members birthday, we hadn't booked as it was a last minute decision. 11 of us in total and when we arrived the staff couldn't have been anymore welcoming, offering us to sit either in the restaurant or the bar area, we chose the bar area as there was a nice fire. Drinks order was taken right away while we decided on food.

The menu had a very good selection of meals from classics to grill to a lunch menu. I had the mixed grill and it was cooked to perfection, others had the scampi which looked delicious and the pie of the day was a steak and mushroom pie. They even managed to knock up a Hawaiian pizza for one of the younger ones despite it not being on the menu. The desserts were delicious and the cheesecake was homemade.

The staff were amazing, such a friendly bunch of people, and because it was a birthday, they played happy birthday (loud enough for everyone to hear) and they all sang happy birthday (just as loud) while giving a bottle of prosecco and dessert! The two waitresses who were serving us even stopped to say goodbye after they finished their shift.

There was a also a menu for dogs with steak chicken or sausages to choose from. Nice decor throughout and a very nice place to be.

I would strongly recommend The Old White Horse Inn to anyone who wants good service and good food, we will definitely be...

Just had Sunday dinner here. 3 x lamb dinners, which were nice to be fair. Not enough vegetables or gravy but asked for more gravy and was brought some. Asked if my granddaughter could just have some beef as she doesn’t like beg or gravy. Waitress said they will probably only charge half for her because it was just meat. We ended up paying £4.95. Asked for dessert menu and the waitress also added there was apple and salted caramel crumble. So we ordered 2 and a fudge cake also asked for 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream for my granddaughter. They came with a sundae? So the confusing bit is! We were charged £12.95 for two land dinners (each) and the other was £11.90?? When my partner asked why there was a difference in price the waitress said because it was a special dessert? (So £1.05 was added to our dinners because we had chosen the crumble?? ) we wernt told this when the waitress was taking the order? I also think that £4.95 for 2 small slices of beef for a 6yr old is shocking. I wish the waitress had come and told us when she said she would ask the kitchen staff would there be a reduction in price because it was only meat she had. We will not be returning because of this, really disappointing. Not that we begrudge paying for food, at all, but I don’t think things were explained properly and the added cost for having crumble...

We visited this lovely pub tucked in a side street in Pontneddfechan. I was visiting my parents who had been before so decided to give it a try. The pub wasn’t too busy on a weekday lunchtime but a few tables were filled and some people were eating outside in the sunshine. This pub would be handy for walkers as the pub is situated at the heart of ‘waterfall country’ in the Brecon Beacons. The area can get extremely popular at weekends so booking might be advisable! The lunchtime specials are great value. I had ham, egg and chips but my parents ate off the main menu which was a bit more pricey for lunchtime. Mum had pork belly on a bed of mash which she said was ‘melt in the mouth’ and dad had gammon. We all really enjoyed and decided to try desserts which we don’t normally do at lunch. The choc fudge cake was 😋 I would definitely return again especially after doing the circular walk that I have planned in the autumn. The restaurant would be perfect for a family celebration as they have a large u shaped seating area in the window at the front. On a final note, the waitress was so lovely, genuine and welcoming too which is always a bonus!
