I live very closely to this pub, & have watched, eagerly, as the new owners totally refurbished it - & the job they did is totally first class!
I was able to pop in, with family, for a quick drink, soon after it opened, & was immediately welcomed by the new hosts.
The pub, itself, has-been beautifully refurbished, with an attention to detail that is amazing.
Everything has been done to a wonderful quality, & everywhere I looked, there was something interesting to see, both interesting, & quirky - just my type of place!.
The seating was grouped nicely, with a mixture of comfy chairs, & wooden benches, with cushions placed for comfort.
I had a lovely latte, as I don't drink alcohol, but my family were served pints, that they thoroughly enjoyed, & which were well priced, too - & very tasty, they told me! Lol
There was no food served there, at that time, but I think that will be happening soon - something I very much look forward to, living as closely as I do to it.
The whole atmosphere in the pub, is cosy & welcoming, with enough nooks & crannies to keep things nicely intimate, without having to literally rub shoulders with your fellow imbibers.
There is also a lovely beer garden at the back of the pub, which will be a wonderful spot to sit in sunny weather.
I watched all the work done to create this, plus the parking area, & the new owners have done an excellent job with everything!
There was a brand new block of toilets built, attached to the pub (the previous block, there, meant that customers had to brave all kinds of weather, especially in colder times). I didn't actually go in there, but have been told that it's been set up very nicely - so, if I do have occasion to need a visit, I'll update this review! š¤£

UPDATE:
I've been back to the Red Lion four times since they opened, now - that's a record for me! Lol
The first time was for the very first Sunday Lunch that was served there, & I had what must be the tastiest Roast Turkey Dinner, with ALL the trimmings, that I've had in years.
The portion size was so ample, that I ended up taking half of it home with me - my visiting daughter finished it off for me Lol
You have to book ahead for a place on Sundays, though, as they proved to be REALLY popular!
The second time I visited, was on a Friday lunch time, when I was feeling well enough to pop over there for lunch.
I had a basket meal of two fishcakes & chips. It's considered a reasonable portion for a quick lunch but, once again, I just couldn't finish it all - although I did manage to eat the two, very tasty, fish cakes that I'd ordered, & about six of the huge chips that were served with it - they all tasted so good!
The third time, my family came to visit me, so we popped over for a meal together, & I had the tastiest Vegetarian Lasagne that I've ever had, apart from my daughter's - I think the Red Lion's Lasagne beat her version, as much as I love it! Lol
Once again, the portions in our meals were very generous - we all ordered something different from the menu - but I actually finished most of mine, as it just tasted too good not to. I couldn't fit that last bit in, no matter what, though! Lol
The last time I went over to the Red Lion, it was to join my neighbours in a quiz night - I believe these are going to be a regular thing!
The pub was packed with people , & the quiz made it a fun night, with everyone taking it well if they lost.
I even amazed myself at actually answering some of the questions right! Lol
This quiz was a fundraiser, too, & I look forwards to joining in with more of them, as & when I'm able to!
I can see the Pub becoming a real hub of the village now.
The owners are wonderfully hospitable, & they're doing everything they can to entertain their customers, with a regular Open Mike night, various live singers, & many more things being planned for next year.
I wish Annette & Mike all the best in their endeavour, as they deserve it, with all the hard work they've put in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreāļø Couldnāt rate this place higher! Mark & Annette have clearly poured their heart and soul into their business. A very quaint and sweet pub, from the decor to the exposed original stone, they have made The Red Lion at Ffosyffin a really welcoming place to be. We visited for food around 6pm on a Tuesday evening when visiting the area, and what can we say!! The food was piping hot, extremely tasty and in a generous portion. The chips were sensational! We had our large dog and 11month old baby with us, and Mark and the team couldnāt have been more welcoming and attentive to our needs. Even he and the locals were waving and talking to Woody (our baby) while we ate! Facilities were of a high standard, really clean & lovely to see. Baby change in the disabled toilet was top notch and all facilities smelt and looked really clean. Overall a wonderful eatery and pub, would highly recommend visiting to anyone nearby or passing through - donāt forget to order the apple crumble š! We canāt wait to see you all again next time, Matt, Char,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe were in the Red Lion today and had a lovely time. Beautiful place, friendly and kind staff, clean and pristinely refurbished 200 year old structure. We were traveling from Mumbles to Aberystwyth and were a bit peckish and ready for a break. We arrived around 1600 and they weren't serving food until 1700. We decided to have a quick half pint and continue our journey. The proprietor told us that they were in the process of prepping for dinner and might be able to serve us a bit earlier. The food was delicious, fresh and hot. We had a nice chat with patrons and the proprietor. Would definitely be my local if I lived in the area. Will stop here any time I am passing through. Thanks Mark! Lisa,...
